Sunday morning...

my cluttered kitchen window

Good Morning!  Isn't it a gorgeous day?  We've been up since about 7 am., had coffee, made biscuits and bacon for breakfast, DH off to run errands already, son off to work, grandson still sleeping?? (He's 13- so I guess that means 'sleep until noon'?)   So...  I'm reading and catching up on my blogs.  So far I've written a new post for Cats, Coffee, and Chocolate about our visiting possum, and updated my favorite picture blog (Simple Things) with pictures of my grand daughter and her horses, and now this one.

I didn't have anything special to blog about today so I decided to take some pictures of  'around the house' to see if anything stood out.  Outside of sleeping cats and a sink full of breakfast dishes, the only picture I liked was my 'cluttered kitchen window' (go figure?).  I wish I had some dramatic mountain or ocean scenery, but I don't.  It's Central Texas.  It does have its own beauty, but not necesarily in my backyard.  Although you have to admit, our backyard is a busy place.

I do plan to make a roast, potatoes, and carrots a little later today. And saved some of the breakfast bacon to add to fresh green beans, onions, and garlic.  And if I get motivated... maybe even a pie with home-made pastry crust?  I love making pies, but DH doesn't seem to care if the crust is home-made or store-bought (Pet-Ritz is pretty good).  But I care.  I love home-made crust! (but it does take time).

  1. I love clutter...I've decorated my home in it! Seriously, I went to a gathering at a co-workers home Friday night. The place was very small but right out of a decorating magazine...the beautiful decor was perfect but there was ABSOLUTELY nothing that would leave you to beleive the place was lived in. I thought it would be lovely and very relaxing to live in such a place. Thus is not my life...I am destined to live in clutter until I end up in a sterile nursing home or such, so I better enjoy it now.

    1. I have to agree with you there, Norma. I like a little clutter too. My next door neighbor has a beautiful place... with everything spic and span and not an article out of place. I would have to throw a shoe on the floor or a toy on the sofa to feel comfortable. (or maybe a half empty cup of coffee and a few cat toys lying about?)

  2. What cats do best! That's a great cookie jar, Grandma.

    1. Cookie jar? Ah, the 'thing' on the table next to the sleeping cat? It's not a cookie jar - tho, that would have been a good idea. It's just something I hand sculptured in my first pottery class.

  3. I love Rose ...so contented in the sun, shinning through the window.
Would you share your biscuit recipe with me....please ...I'm getting into traditional bakes. Here we dont have biscuits as you know them ...ours are a different creature lol ...but we have scones of every variety and soda bread products like my Mistakes ... in an earlier post. I also found a recipe for wartime Rock Cakes and Jam Buns ....both of which the GS's love so I would love to see exactly what an American biscuit actually is and let them experiece them. xx

    1. I will send you a biscuit recipe via email, but your biscuits are what we call cookies, yes? And our biscuits are not that different from scones... I think. I have a wonderful recipe for lavender scones!

  4. I'm coming for supper, you don't mind an extra mouth, right?

I forgot you have other current blogs too, will have to add them as subscriptions, so I don't miss anything! :-)

    1. You are welcome to come for supper... but it's a lo-ong way from Canada to Texas. And you see, my map of bloggers is helping me remember where people are already!

    1. Unfortunately, Olga, my pie didn't get made... at least not today. Grandson and I ended up going over to Barnes and Noble to pick up a few things (with a stop at Starbucks for an espresso - for me, not him... he got a dark chocolate brownie and a chocolate frappichino).

  6. You found PRECIOUS pictures, to snap and to post!!!! See how easy it is??? :-) All we need to do, is look around. Photo Opps are everywhere. Even in our own humble abodes. :-)

Love those kitty pics, especially. Our kittie days are long gone. But it's fun to see someone else's kitties. :-)

    1. Our kitties spend 'a lot' of time napping. Sometimes I think the most energy they use is finding a new place to nap.

  7. Your description of your Central Texas day, complete with cats, is very comforting to me. I spent the day in the sunshine, jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, and came home satisfied. But when I read (and looked) at your day, I realize that I would have enjoyed that, too. :-)

    1. Jumping out of airplanes is definitely 'a cut above' making a roast. But I understand...

  8. I love your kitchen window, and I agree with your post and all the comments about clutter...

I have a sign in my kitchen that says "A clean house is a sign of a boring mind." Amen!!

    1. My kids and grandkids know that Grandma doesn't do 'boring'...
So they'd better 'not' tell me they're bored. There are too many things to do in this world. I guess that means that my mind is as cluttered as my kitchen window.

  9. Your Rose and Jack are beautiful cats. I have two cats named Lucy and Ethyl. They give my Frank and I great joy but they are stinkers in their old age. :)

    1. Dee, they can be stinkers at any age, but they bring us joy also. We have 2-19 yr olds, 3-8yr olds and 1-5yr old (we lost another 19 yr old a few months back). But... there is no more room 'inside'. The others that come must remain 'outside' cats. We love them all, but it's the best we can do.
