returning to normal routine...

Julie and her favorite spot in kitchen

Today is Wednesday and it will probably be a busy day. We have errands to run and grandson has a Band Performance this evening. He plays the Baritone Sax and IMO is very good.  I'm feeling better, but still not able to put much in my stomach.  That's OK.  It makes up for how much I put there on the cruise.

DH goes to the doctors again this morning for the results of earlier blood tests.  They now want to do a 'capsule endoscopy' on him.  We have a lot of questions as to why this is necessary.  He is supposedly anemic and they are trying to find out why. But we haven't been told 'how anemic' and why he can't just take some iron pills.

Anyway, I haven't gotten back to my cruise photos here, but I will.  My cousin recently told me to check Facebook as my niece had posted an 'old picture of my family'.  She was wondering how old I was in the photo. So I checked in and tried to make a few connections while I was there.  I'm afraid that I don't know my way around Facebook very well.  I created an album of my cruise pictures (some of them) on Timeline, but now I can't seem to edit it to add more. I'm thinking that I might just have to make another Timeline album to add the rest (probably should have just posted them under photos).

from right : Dad, brother, sister,  Mom,  me, brother-in-law holding niece, and nephew in center

I also have to post this picture of a cat we saw at Petsmart. He and his brother were definitely a 'temptation' for adoption. But they were both so good looking that we figured they would be adopted soon... and we do really do have a 'full house'.  His brother looked so much like our Thibbadeaux that we lost last year at 19. He was an orange tabby too, but a much bigger cat. And this one 'wearing his bed on his head' just made us laugh. I think they were named 'Barney and Clyde'.

  1. Let me guess, they want to do the endoscopy on your husband for extra $$$$$. Seriously. I say the same thing about doctors here in Canada who send patients for needless tests or who make patients schedule appointments for things that could quickly be done on the phone. How about iron supplements first, more tests later IF needed? Duh.

Sorry, this kind of thing just gets my dander up!

Purrs and purrayers for Barney and Clyde to find a wonderful forever home!

  2. That's quite alright, Kim. We have the same kind of concerns so DH will talk to our family physician this morning about this.

Doesn't Clyde's expression kind of say, "... it's your loss" (like he knew I'd like to adopt him, but had misgivings).

  4. So glad I dont live near your Petsmart ....full house or not ,I would be so tempted. Great couple of posts ...not sure how I missed the last one...you made me smile about the slot machines ....they facinate me but I only ever use the 'penny' ones as I know there is a system that only the regular gamers know...they read the wheels....and I am not throwing money away. Baratone sax is about the only sax my hubby did not play or own ...I loved the sax sound until he died ....my nana was like that about the cello.
Love the older photos ...especially the family group ...was that late 60's?
As for your hubby ....it is hard to know whether tests are needed when money is involved but maybe you need to ask more questions ...the hospital docs are all to ready not to explain things ...talk down to you ...pat you on the head.Your family doc will be the best person to talk to ...hope it is all clearer since your DH talked to him. Hugs xx

    1. Clyde was a cutie...

And I really like the sax sound too.

As for the photo, we have narrowed the time down to 'around 1960-63'. We were in Mexico City.

    1. All I know is that mama said she used 'cooking pears'...

  6. You can tell the picture is old by the clothes and hair. What a nice piece of history to have discovered! :-)

    1. Yes, a time I hadn't thought about in years (and only the 4 of us on the left remain).

  7. Sorry you seem to have gotten a *stomach bug*... As they say.

Also sorry DH is having issues. With a diagnosis of being anemic, I'm sure the doc wants to find out _why_ ? And that's why, the testing. The "why" of is anemia, may not just be taken care of, by popping some Iron pills.

    1. Yes, the doctors are looking for the 'why'... and we appreciate that. We just needed more explanation for why they thought all these tests were important.

  8. I hope that your husband's anemia can be easily resolved. The doctor may suspect an internal bleed that is causing it. My husband seemed perfectly healthy until two summers ago. He has since been sucked into a round of doctors' appointments and tests. It gets to be like a full time job.

    1. They do suspect just that. And he is taking the capsule endoscopy this morning as we speak.

As for your husband, Olga. May I ask what his 'round of appointments and tests are for?

  9. You were and still are very attractive and I would have a hard time not taking that cute cat hoe with me. :)

    1. Thanks, Dee. And it was hard to walk away from those cats. But we feel we have to. It's hard enough keeping the house clean and odor free with 6 cats... and believe me, we work very hard at it (not to mention Vet bills).

  10. Love your photos, Rian! I hope that your husband's anemia is something that can be regulated.
