Strange day...

I'm having one of those 'can't get anything accomplished' days.  I've cleaned my kitchen, read and answered blogs, made a few phone calls, washed clothes, put a few things in the garage that have been cluttering up my computer room, played with the cats, practiced piano, washed and folded a load of clothes, and have a roast in the oven.  Now that sounds like I've accomplished a few things, but it doesn't feel like it. Must be me...

I was reading somewhere about how retirees spend their time and even though I generally keep busy with the house, grand kids, cats, blogging, pottery, reading, sketching, photography, cooking, meeting friends for lunch, etc. (and keeping all the paperwork organized/semi-organized), some days just seem 'un-fullfilled'...

Then again  I may be experiencing grand daughter withdrawal.

Can't think of anything of interest to add...  except that I've been reading the Ann Purser cozy English village mysteries lately. I had already read the Ivy Beasley ones and some of the Lois Meade's... but am now on Tragedy at Two (more Lois Meade).  I do enjoy these.  (Finished Dan Brown's Inferno about a week ago... interesting, but not especially enjoyable.)

  1. Goodness, you sound busy enough to me, Rian. I wish I could get all that you do done in a day. It's 9pm and I'm just starting some laundry. I'm feeling very unorganized lately. Love the cats in the tree.

    1. Yes, the kittens in this group are real little tree climbers.

  2. Kittens! Lots of kittens in trees, and elsewhere. I am reading a book that isn't exactly exciting me, either. And a couple of others on my Kindle app that I might not even finish. You're not alone in this state of yours. :-)

    1. I think it probably is a 'state'... one that will pass soon, I hope.

  3. Oh thank you for writer suggestions. 'CAuse I love Cozies, set in English villages!

Are you the one who read "Buried In A Bog"? Which I heard about somewhere, and enjoyed so much?????

Husband just finished "Inferno." He has read all the Dan Brown books and enjoys them. A very interesting premise, in this last one. Very interesting. (I think the guy had a good idea, there... But that's pragmatic me.)

    1. Yes, I'm eagerly awaiting the next one after Buried in a Bog also. As for Inferno... it was definitely an interesting if not totally acceptable premise. I too have read all Dan Brown's books. They are good reads... not enjoyable as cozy mysteries (IMO), but fascinating topics and in-depth research.

  4. I know that feeling--running around in circles with no sense of accomplishment. Maybe it is time to just give over to a "do nothing" day and recharge your batteries.

    1. Maybe so, Olga. What's that old song, "Mama said there'd be days like this..."?

  5. Definitely grand daughter withdrawal; you've done enough for two days.

  6. I think sometimes it's just a case that everything feels routine, especially when suffering granddaughter withdrawal. It's not that you've done nothing, but none of it feels special. I know the feeling... :-)

    1. Yes, I'm sure you're right. I try to get some things done so that I feel that 'YES! I've got THAT done!' feeling, but sometimes it just doesn't come or perhaps the tasks are too routine (as you said).

  7. Sound's like routine fatigue along with missing the grands....it happens to me.
