a little *ping*

I have to say this now while I'm thinking about it... or there's the chance that the thought will disappear from my head completely by the time I'm sitting at the computer again.

As I sit here on my bed this afternoon trying to rest up after my migraine yesterday, and trying to decide whether to nap or read  (and at the same time going over the our Thanksgiving menu in my head)...
my iPhone *pinged* (as they tend to do when you receive an email). So-oo glancing over at my phone, I saw a blog comment from Perpetua... and it made me smile.

No matter how much we complain about trying to keep up with advancing technology, I have to say that it warms my heart to get a comment all the way from Wales (or England, Washington, Canada, or Vermont, etc.) to little ol' me sitting here on my bed in Texas in the middle of a Thursday afternoon. I know that I'm probably dating myself for saying this, but how can that not be amazing?

  1. LOL! It *is* rather amazing, when you think about it. Though I confess I still don't own a smart phone. :-)

However, the internet certainly has allowed us to connect in so many ways not possible before, around the globe, and that's pretty darned cool. (And I'm dating myself by typing "cool.")

  2. Oh, I totally agree! Who cares if you're dating yourself? This is all so wonderful. And yes, amazing. :-)

    1. Glad to know I'm not the only person out there who is easily amazed.

  3. LOL, Rian. :-) You've taken these thoughts straight from my mind. Yes it IS amazing. I often comment to DH how very satisfying and enjoyable it is to get comments from lovely people all over the world. Comments are quite the best thing about blogging.

    1. I think you may be right, Perpetua, about comments being the best thing about blogging. I would almost argue that writing is fun in itself... because it is... but the comradery that comes through blogging is a different animal.

    2. Oh, the writing is fun too. Indeed I enjoy it far more than I could have anticipated, but it's people with their comments who make blogging so special.

  4. This is so true. Sometimes I imagine it's magic. I type and maneuver my mouse to make things happen. I have no understanding on how it works. So for me it's magic! This reminds me of a quote:
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
    Arthur C. Clarke.
