Where do you live?

We live in Texas

Ever since I started this blog, I've been meaning to do 'something' to remember where the 'bloggers I read' live.  Some are easy to remember by the pictures of the area they post. Others are generic or (like myself) change their pictures from day to day.  In the beginning when I read just a few, it was easy... but now since I've increased the number (and decreased my brain cells), I'm finding it more difficult. I'll be reading a site and then have to surf over to their 'profile' to check out their home base.  Anyway, now I've started a list that immediately shows me who is from where. Archaic, but hey,  it works for me.

The picture at the top is one that my son sent me when he was in West Texas doing some amphibian research for the Dallas Zoo. I figure it might help people remember that WE LIVE IN TEXAS.

I know that I post a lot of pictures of New Orleans because that is where DH and I were born and raised (and our family is still there), but we've lived in Texas since 1971 and raised our kids here. That should qualify us for honorary Texas residents, don't you think?  (BTW, my oldest son was born in New Orleans, daughter in Florida, and youngest son in Texas - we stopped moving after that...)

  1. Upper North East... I don't usually narrow it down, more than that. A "Land" of 4 Seasons, and old mountains, and a small safe city.

    1. Sounds wonderful. I'm not familiar with the North East... except for Maine (which I dearly love).

  2. I live on the coast in Southern Oregon, wet, green and windy. We used to live in Southern California, dry, brown and mostly rushed.

    1. I have never been anywhere on the west coast, but I hear it is beautiful. Thanks for responding.

  3. Well, that picture will fix your location in my mind! There are rattle snakes in Vermont in a very limited area. I don't go looking for them.

    1. Olga, I don't go looking for them either. However, have you ever heard of a rattlesnake roundup?

  4. I always remember you're in Texas.

I can remember a few bloggers' location, off the top of my head, but often I forget, just because I follow so many blogs. It's impossible to keep up.

    1. Yes, I'm in Texas. And you're in Canada. That is one place that I do plan to visit one day. We almost went to Alberta for our honeymoon, but that didn't pan out. Then we almost went to Quebec when we were visiting Maine. That didn't work out either.

  5. I am fascinated by all the places people call home. I am in NE Ohio, in a national park. My cousin lives in Texas and says it takes only twenty minutes to get anywhere. I don't believe him any more. He always says he lives south of the Red River.

    1. When my mom was alive and living with us, she was amazed at how 'long' it took to get anywhere. Being from New Orleans where things are a bit close and congested, Texas seemed like a lot of open space to her. So... it's all in the perspective.

  6. I am always checking where my web friends live ...like you a reduced number of grey cells has a lot to answer for.
I live in Scotland ....in east of central Scotland...actually Fife ...or the Kingdom of Fife as it is called. I was born and brought up in the SE of England, just outside London but in 2005 I answered the call of the blood that runs in my veins, and moved to Fife where my mothers family had lived for generations.

    1. As I believe I've mentioned before? (it's those decreased number of brain cells again) my father was born in London and his father's people all came from Ireland at some point... Well, DH and I visited England, Ireland, and Scotland back in 1996 and again in 1999. It was all wonderful, but we both found that we especially fell in love with Scotland and its people.

    1. Dee, I roomed with a girl from Michigan at Colorado State the summer of my junior year... and that's the extent I know of Michigan. But I've marked my map with your name. Thanks.

  8. Hi Rian, I'm in Otago which is in the bottom half of the South Island of New Zealand. We have short (but often hot) summers and usually rather dreary winters. It was mainly a scottish settlement so has that sort of heritage. Green hills, dry arid areas inland, mountains and lakes. Small towns and one major (university) city which is small by world standards but has a lot of character.

    1. Diana, I don't know how to reply to you. You live so far away and in such a fantastic place. I've heard wonderful stories about New Zealand from friends that have visited. Please continue to blog and post pictures so we can share your life.

    1. Thank you, DJan. You should see my wall map. I now have pin points at 'approximate' places where everyone lives. Now I can read their post and know at least where they're coming from. My 'memory' wouldn't let me do that. Before I'd read a blog and think, "now where does he/she live??" and I'd have to look it up. Now I can just look over my shoulder.
