nothing to post about...

I've been wanting to post... but have nothing significant to post about. This is both good and bad, yes?  At our age, I'm happy that life is quiet (for the most part) and content. Since the car accident a few weeks ago, we've been dealing with our insurance company and trying to decide what to do about our totaled car. But besides that (which is enough in itself), things have been relatively quiet.

With only DH's truck (which I prefer not to drive and which we share at the moment with our grandson who uses it for both work and classes), I dropped my Tuesday and Thursday exercise classes and kept only my Saturday pottery.

We will get another car... in fact, we looked at one we both like this week. It's a 2015 pre-owned. However, I will say this. Since I've been driving my mom's 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis since she bought it new 23 years ago, the new cars with their keyless entry, phone hook-ups, navigation systems, etc. look like space ships (besides the fact that I haven't driven at all since the accident).

I've a tiny bit of PTSD (I think).  Beings it was my first car accident and both the impact of the cars and the explosion of the air bags replays in my head, I'm a little leery of driving now. This is foolish as I've driving for 57 years with no problems whatsoever.  Everyone says this feeling will fade. I'm sure they are right.

The cats are fine - our three inside spoiled babies as well as our outside feral families. Took a picture of one of the families that stay close by as they were looking in the door this morning. You can see the mom and dad in the back and the 2 young ones with their heads looking in. There's another Siamese looking twin that has recently decided to go off and wander a bit on his own. He's the more adventurous of the 3 kittens. The other 2 still stay close by their parents although they are half grown now.

That's my Sunday contribution. If you'd like to see what I've got on the greenware cart at the pottery studio (bunny windchimes, ceramic beads, and small bird soap dishes), click here  (and feel free to leave any comments or suggestions regarding any ceramic creations on that site) Otherwise have a great Sunday and as always... thanks for dropping by!

  1. I had a couple of fender benders this past year, and even though no airbags deployed, I feel a bit of that same PTSD: getting ready to turn left and scouring the cars around me, hoping nothing will happen, I tense up and relive the sound of the collision(s). I do hope it goes away, too. I love that picture of the feline family, BTW. Even with you think you've got nothing to report, you say plenty to me! :-)

    1. We just got another car... and I drove it around for just a little bit. It was fine. It may take a few times before I go out on the road again, but I will.

  2. I'd be scared to drive too, hope you get over it.

  3. Such a cute photo of the little ones peeking in. Sweet and sad at the same time.

I think it's perfectly normal to be wary of driving, I'd wonder if you weren't! It took me quite a while not to freak every time a car came at me (at an intersection) from the left, as that's the direction the taxi driver was coming when he broad-sided me. You'll deal with it, but please don't discount how you feel.

    1. The little feral family is really sweet. They stay together pretty much... the mom, dad, and 3 little ones. It's new for the little adventurous one to go off on his own lately.
And I'll get over being jumpy in the car... given time.

  4. I love those feral babies. It must cost you a lot to feed them all, I don't count how much we spend of the cats, foxes and seagulls. lol
I know what you mean about not having anything to post, I go through phases of that. Don't worry just post when you feel like it.

    1. It does cost a bit to feed all the outside ferals... but we've done it for so long, it's part of our budget.

  5. I hope you get right on past that driving business. To quote Nike, just do it.

    1. You are right there, Joanne. I use that quote a lot myself. We do what we have to do.

  6. accidents come out of nowhere and so quickly, take it slow; we had our own mishap, the back window of our camper shell fell out and we need to keep all we take to the farmer's market dry, hasn't been easy dealing with that. I'll check out your pottery page.

    1. So true, LInda. Things happen in a split second...
Thanks for checking on my pottery page.

  7. The new cars are like space ships. I'd play with all the buttons just to be sure I knew what does what. You will forget the accident but when ever you witness one, even on TV, for an instant but only briefly, it will come back. Something about that sound.

    1. When I first sat in the new car we bought, I looked at all those buttons and camera, etc. on the dashboard and thought... "what???" But after driving it around the parking lot a bit, its not so confusing. And I agree with you that now that I've experienced an accident, I certainly am more strongly affected when I see one on the TV news.

  8. I'm sorry to hear of your accident Rian but glad to see you are feeling better. That must have been so frightening and I think we would all have some hesitation to drive again. But, you will with time. Your ferals are beautiful. I am such a worrier when it comes to cats I would fret over them all the time especially with our winter months being so long and cold. I hope they do well. |Take care.

    1. They will have a covered back porch with cat beds and heat lamps available. It's not the ideal, but we do what we can. They get a good winter coat and sometimes sleep 3 or 4 together to stay warm.

  9. As an accident survivor myself, I know it can be a little intimidating to get back on the road, esp. with all those crazy drivers out there (who haven't had an accident ... yet). One thing to keep in mind -- newer cars have more safety features: more/better airbags, lane departure systems, backup cameras, etc. They are worth the price, if you ask me.

    1. The newer cars certainly do have lots of safety and convenient features, Tom. I personally like the light that goes on in your side view mirrors when a car enters your blind spot... and maybe the backup cameras.

  10. Dear Rian, I so hope you weren't injured in the accident. I have PTSD and so I can appreciate what is happening in your head and body right now. I do so hope that the incident fades but the sounds may persistent. I hope not. Thanks for the update on the indoor cats--domesticated; and the outdoor cats--feral. One of the indoor cats with whom I live--Matthew--races around the house like a banshee and I sometimes call him "My Feral Fury!" Peace.

    1. No, Dee, I'm fine... just some bruises and they're fading fast. I laughed at your description of Matthew racing around the house. Our Julie does this too... and we wonder what gets into her at times.

    2. Dear Rian, it's like Matthew is a car battery that's been jumpstarted! Peace.

  11. Routine, peace and quiet are good aren't they? Hopefully you find a vehicle you like. I'm with you on all the techno gizmos...I'll probably keep my 2007 Toyota Corolla until it rusts and the wheels fall off.

    Off to see your pottery!

    1. I love peace and quiet, Eileen... at least most of the time. And the new cars sure do have a lot of techno gizmos! My mom's old car ran just fine without all those things, but I guess the new ones have a lot of safety features the old ones didn't.

  12. Sorry to read about the accident and the following PTSD. It is always something! I am up with insomnia awaiting the storm in two days and hoping that we have gotten as well prepared as we can!

    1. Praying that you stay safe from the storm. I heard on the news the other day about some blood test that they've come up with that can tell how your biological clock is set... may turn out to be a help for people with insomnia.
