Happy Veteran's Day! |
Happy Birthday today to our Grandson!
(as of today he is no longer a teenager)
(as of today he is no longer a teenager)
Also... Thanksgiving is around the corner and our youngest grandson is coming from California to spend a week with us! We can't wait to see him!
Hopefully I will remember to take a picture of everyone that is here for our Thanksgiving dinner! (I used to be good at that... lately when it gets busy, I tend to forget.) We should have our daughter and her family, youngest son and his family, and our 2 grandsons! We will be missing our oldest son and his wife this Thanksgiving as they are in Hawaii and won't be here this year (although we hope to visit them soon on Oahu).
I may not be posting in the next few weeks due to the holidays as well as company and the end of the Fall semester when our projects are due for critique. I've just about finished everything; the egg birdhouse, the Tiki mask, the pocket Tiki, the 2 sets of windchimes, the architectural tiles, one fox, 2 birds, and a chicken! (Yes, just one chicken this semester - can you believe?)
I did have a little time Saturday afternoon at the studio... so I threw 2 small bowls on the pottery wheel.... just to see if I remembered how to throw. I did. I just haven't had time to use the wheel at all lately. I really need to get back to it.
Here are a few pics of the bunny windchimes - finished and hanging in my kitchen for the moment.
Wanted you to see the designs on bottom of round....
and on top!
Sorry if the pics aren't terribly clear, but it's hard to get it from all angles. The extra string you see will be cut off, but I just finished them this morning. Stringing them so that they hang properly isn't easy.
OK... that's it for today. Hope you all have a good Veteran's Day weekend!
(I really need to find this sign... or have one made!)
Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday and all the family company--it's coming up soon! It feels like we just had ours (Canada's is in October), and now Christmas is around the corner. And good luck with your projects too! Take care. :-)
ReplyDeleteI know... so much to do. I sometimes wonder how it will all get done (but somehow it does). And having everyone together to eat, talk, and nap after the big meal is always wonderful.
DeleteHappy Veteran's Day!
ReplyDeleteLove, love the chimes! The decorative patterns are lovely and the colors are great. I especially like the carrot that dangles from it. You do such nice work.
Eileen
The windchimes have been an interesting project. You would think they should be easy... but putting them together so that they hang properly was a learning experience.
DeleteThanks for sharing your work. Enjoy those grandsons and Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Olga. Happy Veteran's Day and Happy Thanksgiving to you also!
DeleteI answered your question about the Messenger program in a private email. I simply LOVE those windchimes, and the carrot at the bottom makes me smile. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, DJan. I will check it out. Sounds like fun... and if it can make me look like I have make-up on and don't have to actually do it - great!
DeleteIs that fellow the young grand on the steps, with the red head? How wonderful to have visiting grands!
ReplyDeleteYes, he is the one in 3 pics on the side, making cookies, brothers, and younger days... lives with DH and I now - going to college and working.
DeleteHappy Birthday to your all grown up handsome grandson. Enjoy the holidays and all the company. Don't forget pictures. We will see you when it calms down.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Patti. I can't believe he's 20. I still remember him as the little redheaded boy in the pics on the side here. Hope you have a wonderful holiday too.
DeleteOh, aren't grandsons just the sweetest! I sure miss my grandsons now that they are all grown up and too busy to visit. I love the bunny wind chimes. I love bunnies! Sounds like Thanksgiving at your place will be fun and happy this year. I just love when all the family gets together. Will be thinking about you. Happy Holidays!!
ReplyDeleteYes, grandkids are wonderful! And they seem to grow up very fast...
DeleteHope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
We are spending Thanksgiving alone...just the two of us. I could reach out and do something else but this only happens every other year.
ReplyDeleteWell... sometimes having time alone is good! As much as I love all the family, kids, and hullabaloo, I have to say that a quiet Thanksgiving has it's attraction too. Enjoy!
DeleteYou made that windchime? Cool! Enjoy your holidays ... family is what it's all about.
ReplyDeleteYes... from pieces of clay and string! (even the beads are clay - or were - now they're ceramic) It's my second attempt. First one had to be re-strung, but I learned a lot in the process. Hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
DeleteI really like the bunny wind chime.
ReplyDeleteThanks, John.
DeleteDear Rian, I so like those bunny wind chimes. They are truly whimsical--bottom, top, middle--they just a smile to my face. You've been so busy and that will continue now that we are in the holidays. May your season be one filled with the joy of family as your Thanksgiving was. Peace.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dee. My youngest son's wife's father passed away right before Thanksgiving and his grand daughter's 6th birthday. It made the holiday bittersweet as it was unexpected. But we persevered and will continue to do so. It just felt strange to start a holiday with a funeral.
