New Years Eve - Eve...

It's Friday, December 30th! New Year's Eve  Eve...

Christmas Pictures the kids sent of our grand dogs:

Moose (Great Dane) - 8 years old

Winston (Golden Doodle) - 2 years old

Cookie (French bulldog) - 2 years old

They are all sweet dogs... easy to love.

Now a Christmas pic of youngest granddaughter...

(who is also easy to love)

and my new Christmas slippers! (DH and I don't swap gifts at Christmas anymore. Once the kids came, Christmas was for them, then the grandkids. But we usually put one thing under the tree that we want or need. This year I needed slippers - as you can see).

and a short video of our Christmas dinner (which was just for the 3 of us):

(The video is small and short... but you can enlarge it
by clicking twice - I think)

We just had some turkey and ham, green beans with bacon, bourbon sweet potatoes, and mini cheese biscuits. It was a simple Christmas dinner - not like the ones from years past with 12 of us all eating and talking at the same time. But it was fine. The weather was cold enough to keep our daughter and her family home to take care of their horses, chickens, bunnies, etc. - but not too terrible.

And we don't generally do anything for New Years Eve except make my MIL's home-made eggnog (with a splash of bourbon) and sit by the fire watching the Crystal Ball go down.

(These are last year's pics, but since they are always the same,
I thought I might as well use them)

So... Happy New Year 2023 to Everyone!

Hugs (virtual),
Rian

  1. Your Christmas dinner and your cosy area to enjoy it in look lovely. It is New Year's Eve here (though not yet dawn). The New Year will find its way in without me. She knows the way and doesn't need me to wait up. I do hope that it is a healthy and happy one though - for the world.

    1. We don't always make it until midnight here. Drink our eggnog, watch the ball go down - which goes down earlier in NY... so we head to bed after that (unless we fall asleep waiting). Happy New Year EC!!

  2. Rian, your photos are always a lot of fun. Loved the granddogs, had to smile at the old vs new slippers and your granddaughter is a sweetheart. I like her glasses. Hope you guys have a Happy New Year :^)

    1. Granddaughter has glasses and hearing aids... but neither stop her. She is into music, gaming, and already has a green belt in taekwondo. I too hope you have a happy, healthy, safe 2023!!

  3. I like your new slippers!

Happy New Year to you and your family, Rian. I hope 2023 sees an end to the pandemic and to at least some of the world's madness. Most of all, I hope we're all healthy and happy and loved!

    1. I so agree, Kim. Seems like the pandemic 'could' be on it's way out, but Covid may stick around. As for the world's madness... doubt that will go away, but perhaps more people will come to see that love and not power is the answer... Stay well my friend!

  4. ooooh we are so much alike!! the hubs and i do not exchange gifts either, we have not since we had the boys. this year, was suppose to be like all the rest but he bought me a few things, and 3 books. the dogs are adorable, as is youngest granddaughter.

so funny what you said about pictures. i often wonder why i am hanging out the window, freezing my "baggets" off, when i have a million pictures of the birds i am photographing. and they do all look the same!!

you were not kidding when you said the video was short, i was hoping to see you!! happy new year to you and the family...i hope it is good to you!!

and i forgot to say, i thought the first picture was the new slippers. i thought, hmmmm, they don't look too new. then i saw the new ones and i'm like, ok, that's better. i like them!!!

    1. Ha! The video was longer, Debbie, I cut it short... didn't want to bore everyone with too much. And I WAS in a short video (making our xmas dinner) I sent my daughter since she couldn't be here. It was very short too. But perhaps I'll post it at some point on my blog.
And referring to pictures, I have a million pictures of cats... outside and inside... one day my kids will go through them all and throw them away. But I love going back and seeing them. Found an old blog that I wrote mainly about the cats. Love reading through it as it goes back to 2008.

  5. You really did need new slippers didn't you? You are good for another year now. Like the hearts.
Sounds like you had a just fine Christmas, Loved the nice fire for atmosphere and warmth. Hope you make it to the dropping of the ball. I haven't seen the new year arrive for years. Somehow it is always there in the morning:)
    Happy New Year.

    1. Yes, Patti, I really did... and I'm not a slipper person. I loved my old LLBean ones (loved them to death obviously). These new ones are from the Cuddledown catalog. They're OK, but I did see some since that had black cats on them. But it would cost me to return these to Cuddledown and really, they're fine.
And you are right, the new year will arrive with or without our watching!

    1. Happy New Year DJan! We do look forward to our eggnog (perhaps more than the new year). Let's just hope and pray the world takes a turn for the better in 2023. Not that I'm complaining as life (despite the pandemic, the bazaar weather, the political atmosphere, the war, etc.) is still good. We're still here for one... and I'm grateful for that.
