White Rabbit!! and Hot chocolate and other stuff...

Happy December 1, 2022

Rabbit! Rabbit! White Rabbit!!
(sculpted bunny)

hot chocolate at Eataly's

DH and I went to the Mall this week. I had a return and we had a few things we needed to get for Christmas mailings. But after we did our errands, we stopped for hot chocolate at Eataly's. We haven't done this in a long time and it was nice. We still wear our masks, but are getting out more.

Today (Wednesday) we're getting our Omicron boosters. I sure hope it doesn't make us feel bad as with Christmas around the corner, there's still a lot to do. But that's a good reason to get it now.  We've got the tree up, gifts purchased, and Christmas cards started. So... I've made a good start. The Christmas baking will begin next week so I can get everything mailed on time.

The Christmas tree decorating is well on it's way. I probably have at least half the ornaments up... but it's still a work in progress... and will continue to be so until the Mardi Gras beads go on last. Then it will stay up until the week after New Years. That's our tradition. And when it's time to take down and put outside for pickup - it's a sad day, but we let it keep one ornament inside it's branches as a thank you (silly? maybe).

This is the very start of trimming...
(lights are on the tree, but off for the pics).

a few other Christmassy things:

That's about it for Christmas decor so far... (starting on our animal tree in the other room today... more on that later)

And I'm going to close with a pic of youngest granddaughter's 10th birthday this week!

*My friend who had surgery is having a hard time. Please pray for her. Things haven't gone too well after the surgery and I just keep hoping that it will get better. I'd appreciate any good thoughts or prayers you could send her way.

    1. Thanks, EC... I hope so too. As for the Christmas decor... we really don't do a lot. (the elf stays up all year (we like him!)

  2. Yep, I forgot again. Maybe Jan 1st will be the time I remember.
Hope your booster is uneventful. I get mine tomorrow.
Love those personal ornaments. The best kind.
Just put your friend in my prayers and hope she is on an upswing soon.

    1. Omicron booster didn't happen, Patti. The Pharmacy where we usually get our vaccines isn't giving it (didn't find out until we got there). So, now we have to find another place. Hope yours is uneventful also!

  3. I don't know which I like more, that elf or the grandfather clock it's sitting on! I hope I didn't sound too square there... anyway Rian you have a handsome son and it's nice seeing your granddaughter (and her mom too). Your tree is on it's way.

  5. I got my booster last Friday. No problem. On the way home I stopped at the Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru for a hot chocolate. No Covid risk; but the hot chocolate was . . . No Good.

    1. Oh, sorry about the hot chocolate. Ours was excellent... DH's only complaint was that it could have been hotter... (but the cold whip cream on the top probably was the reason for that).

  7. I love your sculped bunny, and also love your Christmas traditions. How sweet, leaving one ornament on the tree. That is a delicious looking cup of hot chocolate. Sure wish my husband would get into enjoying the joys of the Christmas season. Christmas will be here before we know it! Oh, Happy Birthday to your sweet granddaughter!

  8. I am sending prayers for your friend. My encounter with the booster is a good one: only a sore arm for a day. Or two. I think you make a wonderful Christmas tradition with that tree. :-)

    1. Hi DJan! So glad you are home safe and sound... with some wonderful family memories. As for the booster, we couldn't get it as the pharmacy we usually go to wasn't giving it. But we'll get it somehow next week.

  9. Your holidays preparations seem to be well in hand. I love your tradition of leaving one ornament on the tree as a thank you to it, that's beautiful.

Good luck with your booster, and I will keep your friend in my thoughts and prayers, and hope that she turns the corner and begins improving.

  10. I'm so sorry for the difficult time your friend is going through. I'm having a hard time getting myself going with holiday decorating or gift buying. Sigh... However, seeing your posts are bringing some spirit into my brain though.
