silly post...

this is my favorite spoon...

Talk about looking for 'something to write about'... but actually I wasn't. Let me explain:

I make tea several times a day... and I take my either Irish or English Breakfast tea with cream/not milk and no sugar. But I need a spoon to measure the cream (4 tsp). Well, we have a conglomeration of different types of spoons (don't even recall where some of them came from) Our kids may have dumped ones from their college days in the drawer. Anyway, I usually grab one, any one, when making my tea.

This morning I grabbed this one and became aware that my smile brightened as I held it. This is one of our wedding spoons - picked out when registering for our China and Silver (do kids even do that any more?55 years ago this month. It is Royal Rose by Oneida... and I still love it! It feels perfect... right size, right weight, etc.

So yes, this is a silly post. But if one can post about favorite mugs or favorite whatevers, then why can't I post about a favorite spoon?

(And the reason it's resting on the bunny, is because I just took off the Christmas tablecloth and put on the Easter one)

Here's a few fun memes:

Hugs (virtual),

Rian

  1. Love the funnies - and the last is very true here.
I have a favourite mug (and try not to use any of the others). And why not a favourite spoon.

  2. Thank you for this silly post! I really enjoyed the bunny picture and the spoon photo. We drink lots of brewed tea here and have mug collection but not spoons. You should show your spoons more often.❤️

    1. Thanks. It's funny, but DH likes 'big' flatware... so I always have to find the largest forks, etc. when I'm fixing something for him. And I'm the opposite, love the smaller size...

  3. good funnies today!! your spoon looks like ones i use to send away for when i was a young girl. they were only 50 cents, i could afford that, and i liked getting snail mail. i think we have shared our love for these spoons in the past...and the funny story of me sending away for spoons!!

    1. Boy, I wish I could get those spoons for 50 cents! When we first registered them, they were Sterling and we only got about half a set as wedding presents. So, we traded in the Sterling for Stainless... and were able to get a complete set... and I loved them just as much... still do.

  4. I'd say it's more sweet than silly, I love the spoon and you've been married 55 years this month? Rian that's amazing!

    1. Yes, Dug, we were married on Jan.20th 1968. So much has changed... including us (physically anyway)... but life is still good... and I still love my spoons!

  5. I have a favorite spoon and a favorite fork! Only the one of each--accumulated over the years randomly--but they are my favorites. Marie Kondo would be glad they are bringing us joy. LOL! ;)

    1. Rita, I had to look up Marie Kondo as I'd never heard of her. But I intend to read more about her... and now I understand the "keep what brings you joy" part.

  6. I like your spoon and its story and the rabbit table cloth. I have a favorite spoon that is heart shaped and I use it to measure loose leaf tea to brew.

    1. So good to know that I'm not the only one with a favorite spoon. Seems like there are more of us out there.

  7. Joy is found in the small, daily things! :-)

I haven't hit 60 yet and boy, can I ever identify with that last meme! LOL.

    1. True, Kim... and maybe being aware of those small things that bring us joy is good.

As for the memes, I identify with that one too... but mostly with the first. I've always been fairly slow (my uncle called me Pokey) - didn't know I could get any slower, but apparently I can.

  8. It is a beautiful pattern. I am glad you still have just the right spoon in your possession, :-)

    1. Thanks, DJan. Spoons have always disappeared around our house pretty quickly. But I've always been able to replace that pattern... at least so far.

  9. That is a beautiul spoon. Funny, I've always had my favorite spoon for cereal, and favorite spoon for ice cream, and favorite long teaspoon for iced tea. Dan thinks I'm crazy. All your posts are really good and fun to read.

    1. So, Henny, there ARE more of us with favorite spoons! Tell Dan we're not crazy (maybe just a little weird).

  10. LOL! And I'm the one who wrote about my favorite mug. I'm all for writing about a favorite spoon. Hmmm... I could do that too.
