| me with my sister's kids |
I was texting with my niece the other day. She's the kid on the right in the pic; now a retired Pediatrician married to a Neurosurgeon. And I sent her this pic I came across... so, thought I'd share. Yes, like the song says 'don't blink'! My sister was 10 years older than me. She got married when I was 10. So, this was when I was about 14 (I guess), playing with her first 2 kids.
Also... today is the day I should be getting a new phone (wrote this Saturday). We shall see. Heading out there this morning and hopefully they have some in stock. My old phone has been acting up... and after diagnostics taken at the Apple store, was told I'd best just upgrade.
Got it! But the new phones don't have the button... just the 'swipe'. Have to get used to that. New phone is pale pink... and I ordered a pale pink case from Amazon. I was going to get something like orange - so it's easy to find - black ones disappear on dark furniture. But the pale pink is fine... I'm not especially fond of orange.
I also made another batch of British Flapjacks... which we would call granola bars here. I use GF oatmeal, Lyles Golden Syrup, unsalted butter, peanut butter, vanilla, chocolate chips, light brown sugar, and a small amount of flour (1 tbsp) and kosher salt (a pinch). Works as a breakfast or snack...
That's it for this week. Hoping this cool weather will continue and wishing you all a good week ahead!
BTW, we have been watching Anna Pigeon on Hulu USA. The episodes for the first season are done. 2nd season won't start for a while. But I really enjoy it. It's taken from Navada Barr's books about a ranger in the national parks.
Hugs (virtually),
Rian

Rian, it's been raining nonstop here in Pittsburgh so I was glad to see a new post from you. I loved that photo at the top! You looked very pretty and your sisters kids were very cute. More old photos please. :^) Glad to hear you got a new phone, and those "British flapjacks" looked very tasty. Are they difficult to eat if you don't have a strong jaw?
ReplyDeleteDug, I've been "trying" to organize old photos and papers (I'm really no good at it). So... just maybe I may be posting more old photos. The British Flapjacks can be very chewy if not careful. It's taken me several tries to get them where I like them. I had to balance out the butter and peanut butter and not put as much syrup into them... and most important of all not to bake them more than 20-25 minutes. If done right, they are fine for all jaws.
DeleteRian, what an adorable photo of all of you!! I bet your niece was thrilled to get the photo!
ReplyDeleteI got a new iphone from Apple a few months ago. I had a ten year old (at least) Android and it wasn't receiving emails consistently. So anyway, I wish you luck. I went to lunch with my daughter today and she had to close about 100 open pages. I don't know how to close anything. Hopefully I can remember what she told me. She also showed me how to log on to the guest internet at the restaurant. We will see if I can remember that, too. This phone is so different than my old phone. I'm guessing if I stuck with an Android it would be different too.
Hi Miss Merry! And yes, my niece was thrilled to get the photo. It's one she hadn't seen. Which iPhone did you get? My new one is a 17. We've always had iPhones, so I'm not familiar with any others. But even this one has some different features from my old one.
DeleteI believe mine is a 17 Pro . I have no idea what that means. And I believe it is blue. I could get blue or orange. I immediately put it in an Ottobox case since I drop my phone numerous times a day. Good luck!
DeleteLoved the photos of you as a teen, as well as the neices! The "flapjacks" do sound delicious. Mmm, I cringe at the thought of a new phone, but my iPhone is still version 12.
ReplyDeleteBarbara, my old phone was a SE (similar to the 13, but still had the home button). However, it was having problems, wouldn't upload or download and went black on occasion for no reason. And the flapjacks are good... made with oatmeal, so they give me an alternative to regular oatmeal on occasion.
