a Sunday Hodgepodge...

Today is actually a busy day as the kids are coming over for supper this evening and I've a lot to do. But I haven't posted since Nov. 1 and thought I'd put something out there. So, this will be a quick hodgepodge of thoughts and pictures.

Starting with a picture of my daughter's rescue dog, Remmie. He's a Great Dane that she recently adopted. I haven't seen him in person yet, but he is a handsome fellow in the pics. She says they don't know his past as she was told he was found wandering with no chip and no one ever claimed him. She says he has issues... scared to be alone. She has been sleeping with him downstairs for now. He won't go up the stairs yet... and cries when she leaves him alone. But he gets along well with granddaughter's Burnese Mountain dog who lives on the property with granddaughter.

Next is a picture of my chicken enchilada pie. I tend to make chicken enchiladas in a pie shell to avoid wrapping up each one in a tortilla. Both are good, but this way is easier.

Next is a picture of our neighbor's Halloween house. He always constructs something in front of his house for Halloween and then converts it to Christmas... and always fantastic. My favorite over the years was a huge ship with skeletons and ghosts that he later converted to Santa and elves. Once he did a huge Red Baron plane. This time it's a haunted house (the whole gray front is part of his Halloween structure) I'm sure it will become Santa's workshop at some point.

and here is a picture of a sign I need to get for my own house:

This evening we're having stuffed pepper casserole, a pasta salad, and home-made rolls. DIL is bringing a dessert. We haven't gotten together since our get-away to Broken Bow, so I thought it was time. If I think about it, I'll post a few pics later.

And maybe I'll vent a bit here... just for a minute. Getting older is a gift, I realize that. But sometimes it can really be challenging. I'm only 81 (ha! only) but lately I find that I drop things, find it harder to get up from a sitting or stooping position, memory a bit slow on the uptake, etc. Nothing that hard to accept, right?

But the thing is... as the months go by, other things keep popping up. Now I have this weird little lump in the palm of my left hand and the base of my right thumb stays sore... especially hard to open bottles or jars. I've googled it and it can be due to several things, the most likely is something called Dupuytren's nodule... which could or could not lead to problems. Really?? Now I need a hand doctor to add to the list I already have...  Sorry - as I really do appreciate all the things that I don't have that could be a lot worse. Just saying... 😥

Closing now. Thanks for staying with me this far. Enjoy what's left of this weekend and hopefully we'll have another week of cool weather here.

Hugs (virtually),

Rian
