More large mugs getting ready to be fired...
I'm better at making mugs... can now make them bigger, but am still struggling with pulling handles
Here are more birdhouse ornaments and large mugs on the greenware shelf waiting to go into the kiln.
Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's time to start getting the house ready for Christmas guests. But maybe a day or two to rest first would not be too out of order. I really need a nap...

It's required that you rest up before starting the next batch of whatevers. I love that drawing of your bowl, not to mention the pottery. You are very talented. :-)
ReplyDeleteDjan, I like the way you think... yes, resting up is good. As for the pottery, I'm fairly new at it, but Iam learning.
DeleteLove your pottery...especially your bowl. Will you glaze them in a color?
ReplyDeleteYes, I will glaze them... eventually. I'm thinking that I'd like to make the bowls 1/2 natural (bottom) and 1/2 glazed (top & inside).
DeleteVery nice work and that's an unusual bowl, I like your glazing idea.
ReplyDeleteLinda, when it comes to pottery.. to use the words to that country and western song... "I'm not as good as I'm gonna get, but I'm 'better' than I used to be".
DeleteGorgeous bowl ...love the design ...and the mugs have lovely lines too ...cant wait to see them glazed.
ReplyDeleteAs for your Thanksgiving Feast ...wow. What does your OH do to the turkey??? never heard of cooking it by smoking it ...and the other dishes are so different to ANYTHING we have. Sweet potatoes are yummy but with marshmallow??? and what is a green bean casserole?? Glad you had such a great few days xx
Angie, DH (stands for 'Darling Husband') smokes the turkey every year in his smoker. It uses hickory wood for the smoked fragrance and cooks on a very low heat all night. And candied yams with marshmallows as well as green bean casserole is traditional in the U.S. for Thanksgiving. We tend to like the bourbon sweet potatoes here at our house as well as oyster stuffing (which is a New Orleans tradition). Some people cook their turkeys in the oven or even 'fry' them, but the smoked kind has always been our favorite.
DeleteThe pottery looks good to me. It must take a steady hand and a carefully watchful eye to do that.
ReplyDeleteLike everything else... some days the hands are steady, others, not so much. And like other forms of art, the muse comes and goes as she/he wishes. But persistance will prevail (I hope).
DeleteI found you through Clost's blog "Just My Life". Your recent comment to her blog really resonated with me, so I decided to wander over and visit. Glad I did. Love your pottery work. Have always admired the art form. The bowl with handles - lovely.
ReplyDeleteHi Joyce, Thanks for visiting. I tried to visit you, but for whatever reason, it didn't work... but please come by anytime.
