Pumpkins at Central Market |
Halloween cookies |
These were creative also - Halloween cookies using chocolate chip cookies, marshmallows, and almonds!
Last year we found this serpent shaped pumpkin and added it to our outside display. This year we didn't come across any of these. But our front porch display is still a work in progress. We added another smaller pie sized pumpkin this week. It still needs something... but I don't know what. Any suggestions? Maybe some multi-colored corn to give it some yellow?
...and of course we put our favorite crow in tree that we had last year and left out all year because we liked him there. Of course crow #1 had to be replaced this year as due to the cold winter and rain, he was looking a bit shabby.
We also used to have a sign that said, "black cat crossing"... which is very suitable to our feral sanctuary. Don't know where that sign went. Shall have to look for it. We do close all the gates to our yard so the outside cats have a place to stay safe on Halloween. And our inside cats are restricted to one part of the house while treat-or-treating is going on. Our Ghost does not like ringing doorbells.
And last pic of the day is this sign that has been on our kitchen wall for years. One of the kids gave it to us. And of course it is very appropriate... except that it should say "cats" never just "cat" and we're all well trained, not just me.
As I write this, Julie is lying on the trundle bed in the computer room next to me and *snoring* loudly! Do your cats snore?
Have a wonderful weekend!
That mall is more creative re: decor than ours, by far! I love the displays of pumpkins, it's great. I don't know how much little ones are selling for here, but I did see a slew of pumpkins outside of our major grocery stores this morning, for $4.99. Big ones, some were huge! I love to eat pumpkin anything. :-)
ReplyDeleteThose cookies are cute -- very creative too.
But I can't offer decor ideas, because fall and Halloween decor aren't anything I bother with. I think it looks good as it is, but I'm sure whatever you add will be fantastic.
Kim, this mall has huge displays of holiday decorations. It's one that people go to just to see their decor sometimes. At Christmas they have a musical display that does the 12 days of Christmas and year round they have ponds with ducks and turtles and huge fountains of spraying water. DH and I go there to walk because it's 2 story (more area to walk) and interesting things to see.
DeleteWe were just taking at lunch about the wonderful sound of little girls talking in the back seat of the car. I need to add peacefully snoring cats to the list of wonderful sounds
ReplyDeleteIt is a peaceful sound... and sometimes when I don't know she's in the room, I have to look to see where that sound is coming from.
DeleteI like your display very much. I don't know, maybe some fake spider webs? You made me laugh about your cats. I am pretty sure you really ARE well trained. :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, we are all well-trained. They outnumber us and are very persuasive... especially when they turn their heads side-ways and give you that "aren't I cute" look.
DeleteMy Sami is a snorer...I can hear from another room she's so loud!
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I've never seen a pink or blue pumpkin before. They look a little odd. Have fun with Halloween!
Someone had painted a small white pumpkin pink and then added it to a tea display on one of the blogs I read. It was very cute. But I admit, having a huge pink pumpkin would look strange.
DeleteThe most jarring thing about my first winter in Florida was seeing pumpkins in the springtime.
ReplyDeleteMy grandson will get a kick out of those mummy hot dogs. I will have to make some for him.
Olga, I don't eat hot dogs at all (the nitrates in them are bad for my migraines). But I have to admit that my youngest grandson loves them... and I too thought those mummy hot dogs were cute.
DeleteI love to look at the pumpkins...and the mummy hot dogs are a hoot....and oh my gosh...my Lucy snores as loud as my husband...LOL
ReplyDeleteMe too, Dee! Pumpkins are my favorite part of Halloween... forget the scary stuff. I'm going to post the other pics we took of pumpkins at our mall next time I blog.
