Ham's Peach Orchard...

Today DH and I went to Ham's Peach Orchard in Terrill, TX.

They are open from May 15th to August 15th every year... and have a wonderful selection of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as tons of other jams, jellies, salsas, pies, cakes, and best of all... fresh peach and strawberry ice-cream!

We basically go for the ice-cream, but usually end up taking home fresh peaches and an assortment of other goodies. They also have a very large covered area where they sell wonderful bar-b-cue sandwiches: pulled pork, ribs, etc. We haven't eaten lunch there yet, but do sit out in their white rockers and eat our ice-cream. It's a pretty neat area as there's always a cool breeze blowing and one can look out over the blackberry fields and peach orchards.

That's my post for today, but I did write a more serious one about *the generations* (click here) on my mulberry days blog... if anyone's interested.

  2. Cannot have too much ice cream, and peach is exceptional. Don't know about the strawberries, though.

    1. Fresh peach ice-cream is definitely my favorite, but they make a swirl where they combine the peach and the strawberry - and that's pretty darn good too.

  3. You reminded me of how much I once loved peach ice cream. These days it's got to have chocolate to justify the calorie expenditure. :-)

    1. DJan, I absolutely love dark chocolate... especially Lindt's Salted Dark Chocolate and Godiva's dark chocolate macaroons, but when it comes to ice-cream, fresh peach is still my favorite.

  4. I didn't know they grew peaches in Texas. I love fresh fruit, and I am drooling over those blueberries, ours are almost ready.

    1. Don't they look wonderful, Linda? I once made a pie from fresh blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries - and it was wonderful. I have a recipe for *bourbon peach cobbler* that I plan to use these peaches for.

  5. Seeing those great peach products makes me so sad my peach tree passed away last year. It was an ugly sucker but had the best peaches ever.

    1. I'm not a big fruit lover. I do eat apples and occasionally cherries or grapes, but love fresh peaches!

  6. Peach ice cream is one of my favorites. Those markets are great. I feel like I'm on vacation whenever I go there.
