Good Morning Saturday...

This is me... every night.  I fall asleep with the book and book light in the bed... sometimes even the cell phone. This cat also reminds me of one we had years ago when our kids were small. He was a long haired orange tabby that our youngest son brought home from kindergarten. Apparently the story was that the mama cat was walking across the school yard with 3 babies and this one fell asleep on the way across. The others left him. Our son took him home. We named him Sebastian.

Now I have to share these pics of youngest grand daughter celebrating her 6th birthday yesterday evening. I have to say that there's nothing cuter than watching 6 year old girls enjoying themselves. The conversation as they played with dolls (a combination of Barbies, American Girl, and Frozen character Elsa), LOL's, etc. was priceless. I find their little minds at this age are so active that it's fascinating to listen to their conversations.

and this one shot right before she changed into her Frozen (Elsa) birthday dress....

Being around them makes me think of the old movie, "Gigi" where Maurice Chevalier sings that song, "Thank Heaven for Little Girls"...

OK, that's my contribution for today.  Just wanted to share these thoughts with you.  I'll leave with another pic I found on Pinterest that I liked.

Have a great weekend!

  1. Your grand daughter is beautiful -- but they do grow up so fast!! I like to read in bed before going to sleep but I usually manage to got on the night stand and turn out the light before I am actually asleep.

    1. I 'sometimes' get the book back on the nightstand. However, more often than not, it's found among the blankets in the morning... with my phone and occasionally my glasses.

  2. What a sweetheart! I love her curls.

Sebastian would have fit in so well here - my orange tabby was Silas.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Thanks, Eileen. We've had several orange tabbies over the years; Sebastian, Teddy, and Thibbadeaux come to mind.

  3. Dear Rian, your grand-daughter, in the final photo, seems to me to be fey. That is about the finest Irish compliment I can give to a person. For me, it means that she can hear beyond and see beyond and know beyond what is the obvious and what is immediately happening in her world. She will be, and I think is, a story-teller. A weaver of stories. What a blessing she must be in your life. Peace.

    1. I wouldn't be surprised if she was fey, Dee. My maiden name is O'Regan and my great grandfather moved from Ireland to London... and later my grandfather moved the family to the States in 1920. She definitely comes up with things that are 'interesting' to say the least.

  4. Dear Rian, did I use your name in my comment. I have the feeling that I called you Jean and not Rian. Sometimes the ideas in my head are not translating themselves to my fingers nowadays! Anyway, i knew I was writing to you, but I may have put someone else's names. I surely wasn't writing about anyone else's grand-daughter. Peace.

    1. Dee, you used Rian... no problem. And I do understand. I sent off a text to my younger son today that was supposed to go to my older son... (? - such is life)

  5. Except the neighbor children, there are no more six year olds in my life. Sometimes I miss them.

    1. They can be a handful... but absolutely fascinating to talk to. Their little minds are so busy figuring out the world.

  6. The cat cracked me up. Me too--and thank goodness for Kindle. It never loses my place. What an adorable grand and how lucky that you got to watch and listen in.
    And yes, it does matter.

    1. Thanks, Kim. When most of the grandkids are grown... or getting there... it's good to have a 6 year old around at Christmas. Makes it easier to keep the magic and wonder there.

  9. Just a lovely post. I think all children are blessings, at any age, but little girls especially so. :-)

    1. Definitely all children are blessings... at any age. Each age has it's own joys. I just really find 5-6 year olds' conversations fascinating.
