Julie hiding, Book on Kindle, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Julie hiding under chair at ear treatment time

I had to post this as she looked so funny. We've been treating her yeast infection in her ear for 5 days now. We put 6 drops in her left ear at 9am in the morning and 9pm at night. She really is good about it and doesn't fuss. But... after only 3 days she realized the time schedule... and while she spent most of Thursday evening laying on the sofa with us watching TV - at 9pm, she disappeared - to be found under the chair in the dining room looking apprehensive.

Her ear still looks pink, but she doesn't seem to be shaking or scratching at it anymore. (I did tell her that if she scratched at it, the 'cone of shame' would be put back on... and I think she understood as she's been really good about not scratching).

On another short note:

"Time After Time"
by D'Arcy Regan Hart (pen name)
Now available on Kindle!

I signed up to do this this afternoon and was told that it may take 24 hours for it to go "live". While the paperback is $15.99 at Amazon for those book lovers who refuse to go digital, the e-book is only $2.99.  I've had so many good responses from people who have read it, that I really wanted it to be available to more readers - and this seemed a good way to do it.

With Thanksgiving coming up this Thursday we have a lot to do this week so this may be my one and only post.  So I'm going to say "Happy Thanksgiving" to every one now. I really hope that all of you enjoy the day with family and/or friends.

DH will smoke a turkey, and there will be bourbon sweet potatoes, cranberry pecan stuffing, mashed potatoes, broccoli/cauliflower casserole, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, hot rolls, and 2 desserts: Kentucky Derby pie, and a (family traditional) chocolate pudding with a cookie crust.

Thanksgiving day will also be our youngest grand daughter's 7th birthday... (which she is celebrating with her friends at the Zoo this weekend) but we will still have a small family celebration at the house Thursday (so add Birthday cake to that Thanksgiving menu).

Closing this with a picture of Julie checking out the dollhouse that we recently moved to the den for youngest grand daughter to put all her LOL dolls in. This dollhouse was originally bought for oldest grand daughter who is now 18. (I've been using it as a bookcase in our computer room). Time to get it out and use it properly.

Julie says "thanks, I can use this..."

Hugs,
Rian

  2. I'm so glad to hear that Julie's ear is better. I got Time After Time awhile back and enjoyed it thoroughly. Anyone who has not had a chance to read it is in for a treat. :-)

    1. Yes, tomorrow is the last day for the ear drops... so hopefully, all will be well. And I'm excited to get my book on Kindle. It won't ever make us rich, but this way more people will get a chance to read it.

  3. Poor little Julie. They are so clever but I feel so sorry for them when they have to have any kind of treatment. If Rupert even hears the carrying box he runs a mile. lol

    1. I know, Briony... isn't that the truth. If that pet carrier comes out, the cats disappear.

  5. Animals can tell time and get use to a schedule. Hope she is soon free and clear. Oh I wish you book had been digital when I bought the paper back. I am so Kindle addicted now that I have a hard time picking up a hard copy to read. Now I will get the digital one and give the paper back as a gift. My blogger friends who have read it say it is just wonderful. Thanks for the option.

    1. Patti, the reason I started out with paperback was twofold; first I love "real" books!(not that I won't use Kindle when I run out because I do), and second, because the person who showed me how to publish only knew how to do the paperback. She did had done one for her Historical Society and they didn't do an e-book. BUT I know many people who prefer Kindle so I thought it would be a way to get more people exposed to my book... so I bit the bullet and tried to do it on my own. Lo and behold, it worked!

  6. That Toby knows the morning routine by heart amuses me. Only recently did I realize, he has "after supper" down pat, too. Damn cat.

    1. Oh yes, they definitely have feeding times down pat. If we deviate much at all, we will have 3 cats sitting at our feet staring holes through us. Same is true with the outside feral cats. They know when to start 'gathering'.

  8. Julie looks so sweet. Sorry but I couldn't take my eyes off your beautiful floor and the table and the chair. Hope you have a big wonderful Thanksgiving. We have a big crowd coming too, for the first time in years.

    1. Thanks, Henny. Taking out the carpet and putting in slate floors was the best thing we could have done with the cats (so much easier to clean). Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  9. Oh, I'm glad Julie's ear is getting better! Our fur babies definitely are clever enough to figure out when the bad stuff is going to happen. LOL.

Anyway, I wanted to thank you for your thoughts of care re: Nicki's passing. It's going to take me a bit to reach that acceptance stage. I truly thought he'd outlive Derry, I figured he was too obnoxious to not.

My best to you and your family, have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving.

    1. Thanks, Kim. It will take a while to get over losing Nicki (as you well know)... for yourself as well as Derry. Comfort each other, it will help.
