Election days 2020

Election 2020

This Wednesday has been the longest day ever... and will probably go on through today and possibly even further. I don't know about everyone, but I imagine it's the same for many - this 'on edge' feeling, waiting for the other shoe to drop (in this case the other states to finish counting)

We try to stay busy and keep the TV off... and only check in at various times. DH is working outside and I'm too antsy to write on my book, so am trying to think of little things to do around the house. Household chores and playing Animal Crossing help some, but even that doesn't keep my mind occupied enough to calm my nerves.

What will be, will be... and life will go on.  But good lord, I don't want another 4 years of this division in our country.  It's possible that a new person in office (any person) might not change that... but we can only hope. And I really would like someone who has a bit more concern for the lives of their citizens... and someone who has respect for the medical profession and science... lets face it, someone who has and shows respect

I know all of this is just 'my opinion' and I do choose to respect others' opinions. And I know this is a 'choice' that not everyone makes - not everyone 'agrees to disagree' . I'm OK with that, but this country was built on the idea of freedom to choose. What good is that freedom if it is not respected?

That's it. Just wanted to see if I wrote some of this down if it would help calm me. Has it? (maybe) Think a cup of tea might help.

Anyway, I hope you have a good day!

(maybe I'll bake a peach dump cake - know the boys would like that...)

hugs (virtual),

Rian

  1. It has been a couple of rough days hasn't it? Not only all the problems here a change would help but our image around the world is in tatters and needs repair. Let's hope it is soon.

    1. I agree Patti, that our image is taking a hit.

  2. I agree, less division and more civility would be a great thing. But you know, it doesn't just come from the president. I see the word "hate" all over Facebook and the blogosphere too, from both the left and the right. But I think if you hate someone, it's your problem not their problem.

    1. Oh Tom, I know that it doesn't just come from the president... but you would think he would "try" to unite us. I don't see him doing that.

  3. I'm watching from Canada, and definitely hoping for the best for all concerned. It looks like it could be the middle of next week before things are sorted out.

A tea and cake sounds like a good plan.

    1. Mae, I really hope it doesn't take that long... but it's a possibility.
Yes, comfort food helps... (however, I may have about a 3-4 lb comfort gain - although I do blame it on less exercise more than snacks).

  4. It's very stressful for so many of us, and I am feeling rather confident that Joe Biden will be the next President, but until he actually is sworn in, I'll have some semblance of anxiety.

    1. I understand. Feel the same... afraid to hope, yet still hoping.
      Like Emily Dickinson's poem:
"Hope is the thing with feathers
      That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
      And never stops at all.

  5. The hatred in this country is palpable. You can see the spit spewing in angry and fearful crowds and that can't be good for our health or our minds and spirits. We need a massive time-out.

    1. I don't know if another person can bring our people back together, but I do know that the person currently in office hasn't even tried. In fact it seems to me that he encourages the division. This is what I see, others may see it differently.

  6. This is a burden on even other countries who hope we get back on track. The headlines of newspapers around the world re pretty compelling!

    1. I haven't seen any headlines of newspapers around the world... but I can only imagine what they are saying.

  7. Dear Rian, funny what elections can do to people. While bummed out that Donald Trump didn't get voted in, i never actually concerned myself much about any man in office, or one to hold office. That's changed. Can only hope Joe Biden doesn't just let 'em afix wheels under his feet - with no working brakes.

    1. Thanks for commenting, Sue. I have friends that are Trump fans and family in Louisiana that are also. I am fine with 'agreeing to disagree' and do respect others' opinions. I don't know if Biden can 'unite' us all again, but I can only hope. IMO Trump certainly wasn't doing it.

  9. I am hoping recounts in the states where little oversight occurred will be done and fraudulent votes won't be counted in the recounts, and the results will show Trump won. My opinion. I read that it took Gore 37 days to have the ballots in Florida recounted in 2000, worth it to get it right.

    1. Terra, I respect your choice, but do believe that the counts will prove otherwise. I don't mind the recounts... just the undignified behavior of how the current man in office handles himself (in general and especially now). But that is only my opinion...
