a Saturday mishmash...

First, I have to say that I got my 2nd Shingles (Shingrix) vaccine Monday. I don't know if you remember, but when I got the first one back in September...  my arm was sore, red, and swollen for about a week. Well, this one only caused me to be sore for a day or so... and not nearly as bad as the first. Thank goodness.

Second, I saw my Family Physician (PCP) Tuesday as Tuesday afternoon, I had some strange pains in my chest. I don't get heartburn and all I had had about 2 hours before was some crackers and cheese... so I couldn't imagine what this pain was.

And it wasn't a burning, nor a sharp pain, but rather a dull pain that came and went for over an hour. It also moved to my left side at one point and radiated to my back. DH gave me a baby aspirin... just in case... and the doctor told me to buy some Pepsid,  and if it came back, to go to the ER. Going to the ER for something that might be heartburn seemed a bit excessive, but I understand that women's heart attacks are sometimes different. Anyway, I never took the Pepsid,  and so far, it hasn't come back.

Now I have to share this video of daughter's bunnies. It's so cute as you can see all the colors of the baby bunnies (white, gray, tan, and black). They are so-oo cute.

(I would suggest you click several times and enlarge it by clicking on the tiny square on the right)

And then...

beautiful kitty

This is the kitten (except in my story his eyes were blue) I had in mind in my second book. His name is Eragon and he belongs to Lizzy, Shamus the Bookstore owner's sister. He was a little monster and was called such until someone came up with the name, Eragon. My daughter saw this pic and sent it to me. I thought, "That's Eragon!"

And then I saw this...

reader's sanctuary

... and thought, "Wow! I love that!"

a person could spend their days reading and napping by that beautiful window!

And before I close all this mishmash of unrelated ramblings,

 I had to share these:

I believe this

and this!

It's Saturday, I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Today I'm planning to make some sour cream chicken enchiladas... and use corn tortillas instead of my usual flour ones (the corn ones are GF). Will let you know how they turn out.

Hugs (virtual),
Rian

  1. It is early Sunday morning here and I delighted in your mish-mash. Thank you. I do hope that pain doesn't come back and sadly you are right, womens' heart attacks do often present differently.
Love those sayings which I agree with (conservatively speaking 1000 %). Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  2. Rian, I'm very glad to know you're feeling better, but if that had been me I would've wasted no time going to the ER. I went awhile back thinking I was having a heart attack, it was my gallbladder--but when I apologized, the ER docs insisted I did the right thing. Anyway... I do love that padded reading window. I hope the rest of your weekend is a peaceful one.

    1. Thanks, Dug. So far, so good. I just know that when you go to the ER (went after my car accident), they run so many tests, etc. and didn't want them to do that if it was just possibly heartburn. Another time I was sent there straight from the lab after my CAT Scan said I had acute appendicitis... and they did take good care of me. But I guess at my age, I should realize it could be my heart one day.

  3. Good to know that your complaint turned out not to be a heart attack. Once you get to a certain age strange (but not urgent seeming) things happening with your body are worrisome. I always think maybe this is a symptom of something that could turn into something really serious but could be avoided if caught early. But I'm a worrier extraordinaire.

I love the reading nook. That to me looks like heaven!

    1. I guess you never know... but at our age, it's good to follow up. I just don't want to be that person that goes overboard with every little 'aging' thing.

  4. Is it possible that Tuesday's pains were caused by Monday's Shingrix? I dunno. I had a similar experience to yours. The first shot put me completely out of commission for the next day. The second shot, nothing. Anyway, glad you're feeling better. And . . . cute bunnies!

    1. I questioned that too, Tom. But no one seemed to think so.

  5. Lovely mishmash. Keep following up with your funny chest feeling. Heartburn or gastro problems increase with age, and are so similar to heart problems. If you push the bottom of your breastbone on that pointy end of it, and it hurts when you do that pushing, it's a sign of flaring tummy and ulcer signs. Rest on your right to see if heart funny feeling goes away.
LOVE the Hobbit-like reading window! Linda in Kansas

    1. Yes, well I have an appointment with my Cardiologist next week, so I'm sure my PCP notified him and he will follow up. But I've been fine since...
      Love that reading window too!

  6. I loved seeing those scampering bunnies, but I especially loved the Sweatpants & Coffee saying. I do hope you don't have a repeat of that experience, and I too hope it was just heartburn. You are too important to me to have you get sick, dear friend. And I love Eragon!

    1. Thanks so much, DJan. I consider you a dear friend too... and look forward to your posts and comments. As for Eragon, was that how you imagined him from the book? Just curious...

  7. Glad you are feeling some better. Chest pain isn't something to ignore though I'm with you on not wanting to visit an ER. Wait times here are ridiculously long.
    The memes are wonderful!

    1. Thanks, Mae. Yes, wait times... and Covid... and Flu, etc!
Going to the ER isn't something I want to do unless I'm really in distress. But I understand why a heart issue could be a reason to consider doing so.

    1. Yes, strange, Debbie... and one never knows whether to follow up on it or not... so, if it goes away, then I just consider it one of those strange age things.
