new item and old memories...

This is my new Apple iPad! I've never had one before as I've always thought that they seem to be just a 'giant iPhone'.  But since I've been doing a lot of reading and writing on my iPhone lately, I thought maybe having something a little larger would be a good idea.

And I can see to play Roblox with my granddaughter on the iPad. She's always asking me to play with her on my iPhone, but I just can't see the images as well on the phone.

(And that pic is not one of our ferals, it's just an image I found that I used as wallpaper)

And this is the large pot of African Chicken peanut soup I made this week... and some chocolate peanut butter brownies (such a simple soup to make and one of our favorites).

My daughter sent me this. She thought it was funny... as it reminded her of herself... (in days gone by)

Yes, she was also a little red-head that wanted a pony... and got one eventually. Now she has horses at her place in the hill country and her own red-headed daughter that rides.

Of course granddaughter is now 20... and getting ready to graduate from Texas A&M. But that picture my daughter sent brought back a barrage of memories.

Going to close this with a pic of the books I just finished that are on the floor beside my bed. I'm now reading a few on Kindle until I can collect another pile.

read and done...

Thanks to all of you who blog and/or read my blog. I find it comforting to know that I can reach out to you at any time and know that there are friends out there who, although I've never met them and possibly never will, still I feel they care. That means a lot.

Hugs (virtual),
Rian

  1. Rian, I don't know what's going on but Blogger will not allow me to stay logged in on your site--this is Doug from ApacheDug's Teepee. I wanted to congratulate you on your new IPad (wow!) and I was also intrigued with that African chicken peanut soup?? I bet that is some pretty tasty stuff :^)

  2. I think Blogger is just becoming too fickle. I have trouble posting here on my laptop, but now I'm on my Android tablet and it's working just fine. Ridiculous.

    1. It is strange as now my first reply to you, Dug, has disappeared. Oh well, we shall muddle along. The soup is really good. I shall post it one day if anyone is interested. And yes, I'm enjoying the new iPad.

  4. Have fun on your new device! I usually end up reading blogs and commenting from my iPhone. I have found lately that it won’t allow me to comment the first time I try so I just swipe it away and come back to it a moment later and then it will allow me to publish my comment. Strange but manageable. - Jenn

    1. Something strange is happening... as when I replied to Joanne's comment, my comment to Dug disappeared.

  6. The new iPad looks like it will be fun!

And for some reason, I always want to drop into your house at meal time. Lol. Everything you make looks so yummy!

Anyway, thank you for your condolences on Derry's passing. I was his, and he was mine, and it's a struggle to be without him. I know the grieving process takes time, but oh, it's a hard path to walk. I appreciate the caring of so many bloggers. ❤️

    1. Kim, I know you're aware that grieving takes time... but be good to yourself and know that even though he's not physically there with you, he's still there in your heart and always will be.

  7. Those floods of memories are so precious. Enjoy the new iPad. I no longer even try to read off my iPhone and it's a larger one at that. The eyes are not aging well.

    1. I know, Olga... even though my eyes seem to be fine, and even though I can enlarge things on my laptop, iPhone, etc. - some things don't enlarge (esp. in games) and I'm hoping the iPad will help here. As for the memories, they are precious.

    1. Yes, that one image sent by my daughter brought back the memories of the day we actually surprised her with "Cider" - her little 2 year old palomino mare.

    1. Yes, unfortunately I've had piles of books like that in several rooms... but recently started taking them to half-price books... so someone else can enjoy them.

    1. The soup is good. I will post the recipe online soon. And I do love to read, Debbie... always have. But I don't always love the 'best sellers'... I read them and think... good writing, but definitely not my cup of tea.

    1. Linda, an iPad would work since you can get a keyboard with it if needed. I didn't, but may later...

    1. Thanks for visiting, Boh. I do read your posts, although I seldom comment. I'm always amazed at how well you handle things. You have a lot on your plate. Our 'fur babies' are all gone. We lost the last 3 who were up there in age during the pandemic. But I can't take their pics down... Now we just care for the ferals outside.
