I don't have a lot to post here... been 'out of sorts' lately with health issues that required meds. First meds didn't work, and Wednesday doctor called in new meds. So far they seem to be working as I'm out of bed and feeling almost normal again.
The 3 doctor appointments I had last week (Oncologist, Dentist, and Eye Dr) had to be cancelled and need to be rescheduled. Hopefully I will get those done before the end of January.
But I wanted to say that I ended up last Sunday at an Urgent Care run by Texas Health - which I've used once before when I came down with Covid last July (on the weekend - like this time - when no doctor offices are open). I have to say that I have nothing but praises for these people. They are kind, and caring, professional, and efficient (very little to no waiting). The place itself is modern, well-staffed, and especially clean - and they're open 8am to 8pm 7 days a week.
So, needless to say, Christmas has still not been taken down. It was scheduled for this week... but hey... (DH did take down the tree). He and my grandson took good care of me as they did the cooking and cleaning all week. I truly wonder what people who live alone do when they're sick... guess they manage somehow, but it must really be difficult.
Anyway... since I spent a lot of time in bed... I found some cute things on Facebook and Amazon that I will post here. I was looking for a gift for a good friend who's birthday is coming up. I found this on Amazon... it's something I have and use a lot, so I thought she might like it.
They are easy to use and make your fried eggs perfectly round... which is great for BELT sandwiches (Bacon, Egg, Lettuce, Tomato).
This would be great for those who actually walk to their grocery to shop... or maybe it would be good just getting your groceries from the car to the house.
So sorry to read that you are dealing with health issues once more Rian, sending healing prayers and comfort your way.
ReplyDeleteI finally packed away my door garlands yesterday, next year, I have promised to downsize on the decorations.....but we'll see :)
Happy that your family are talking good care of you, rest and take time for yourself.
Healing hugs,
~Jo
Thanks for the prayers, Jo. I do think that prayers and thoughts are powerful. As for our Christmas decorations, we didn't have to downsize this year as there's a whole box of our favorites that we couldn't find... and we searched the house, garage, etc. They will turn up one day... hopefully before next Christmas (sigh ; )
DeleteI am sorry you have been poorly and hope you are firmly in recovery mode.
ReplyDeleteLove that duck tea infuser - and the door mat.
And yes, that final meme is right. Completely.
Love that duck tea infuser too... makes me laugh just to look at it. Highly impractical, but really cute.
DeleteThis is a great post, Rian. I'm agreeing with the luxuries of life. I'm sorry you've gone through such a difficult time healthwise, but I'm glad you got good care. Unfortunately things do get challenging as we get older. I have a sore left wrist and some rash around my chest. Argh!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes it does get challenging for older people living alone. Art volunteers for Meals on Wheels and mentions the difficulties he sees among his "clients."
Kay, I'm so glad that your mom has you and Art. I don't think I'd like living alone - even if I wasn't 'old'. Sharing your life with someone just seems right (for me anyway). Hope your sore wrist and rash go away quickly.
DeleteOh Rian... I'm so sorry. I know you've been out of sorts lately, but didn't know you were this under the weather. I very much hope you begin seeing a real turnaround in the days ahead. I'm glad you're surrounded by people who care about you, as someone who does live alone (and spent the last year sick) you are so right--I had to learn to live without on a lot of things. Made me think a lot about the future, and getting older. On a more positive note, I really do have to thank you. Your gifts above--the countertop butter container, the "folding" iron board, the egg ring--I want all these things! And I need to take a better look at that grocery caddy (since I sold my car and walk to the store now). So really Rian, thank you--now please improve and post more, please :-)
ReplyDeleteOf all those things, the egg ring is the best. The one I have is a little different, but it's metal too (the silicone ones don't work as well). And that cart would definitely work... not only to cart the groceries, but as something to hold on to if needed. But... it was a bit expensive.
DeleteMy friend who recently fell and broke 3 ribs went to Urgent Care after a couple of days of pain...thus their Xray showed the broken ribs. Anyway, I sure feel for you for having also to need Urgent Care. It's no fun to be laid up on a weekend. My general practitioner has a sign posted saying we should also call his Dr. on-call on weekends and after hours. I'm not sure I would do that. Glad you're feeling a bit more like yourself.
