Yep! |
June has come in like a lion... not a slow moving lazy cat. This week has been crazy busy... at least for me who likes to take things slow. I had to go to get my B-12 injection on Monday, 2 groceries on Tuesday, 2 Malls on Wednesday, a haircut and a long overdue visit to a friend on Thursday, and a watercolor class at the Senior Center on Friday.... and since school is out, youngest granddaughter was with us for most of this (actually love having her with us).
The watercolor class wasn't really a 'class' as I thought it might be. It was just a relaxing way to spend an hour... painting and talking. I had hoped I might learn something, but no instruction was given. It was fine, but I won't do another.
I will show you what my granddaughter has been doing. She has been making 'cat masks'. Here is a pic of us wearing her cat masks and some of the others she made recently. I think they are adorable... and well made.
Update on the little kitten that hangs around. He/she sleeps almost every night on the back porch... either on the cat tree or one of the chairs. We have been talking to him/her a lot to get use to our voices and although he/she still runs, not running as far these days.
And my cousin in New Orleans who lost her 16 year old cat a few months ago, just adopted a 12 year old rescue named Teddy. Just picked him up yesterday. Here is a pic:
I hope it works out for her. She lives alone and really misses Kuchi, her lost kitty. I think Teddy has a handsome intelligent face and at 12 could use a comfortable home and a kind lady to spend his days with.
That probably covers my week. I did get the ionizer in the mail yesterday and plugged it in our bedroom. Will see if it makes any difference (supposed to purify the air and remove dust mites, etc.)
We're getting together with old friends tomorrow evening for dinner and coffee, so I'd better start straightening up around here - since I did absolutely no house cleaning last week.
Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend!
Hugs (virtually),
Rian
Pics of orchids in the mall:
My goodness, you have been busy! Rian, the cat masks are AWESOME. That kid of yours is talented! Thanks for the feral kitten update, Teddy is very handsome and I very much enjoyed those mall orchids. Great post, always enjoy your updates. 🙂❤️
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dug. I think the masks are awesome too. As for the kitten, I wish he would come to let us get closer. It seems like his mom and siblings have left him... and I worry about the coyotes.
DeleteBusy week!
ReplyDeleteYour granddaughter's masks are terrific, she could sell them if she had a mind. A good fundraiser for a rescue, if she was inclined that way!
The orchids are lovely. We have nothing like that, and now that The Bay is out of business, we have no anchor store in our one mall. Not sure about its future!
Hurrah for a new home for Teddy! I hope they both help each other. 💕
Take care and have a good weekend!
Kim, I do like your idea of selling the masks for a fundraiser. As for Teddy, I too hope it works out for him and my cousin.
DeleteThose cat masks are incredible and do look very well made. And thanks for those little reminders you always add to your posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks, DJan... and I'm not sure what 'reminders' you mean?
DeleteForgive my eavesdropping, but I believe DJan is talking about your memes. They're always sweet and funny, but carry a good message 👍
DeleteOh, OK. Thanks, Dug. Sometimes I'm a bit dense...
DeleteGreat cat masks...a definite creative pursuit...but to make more might just kill the creativity aspect. What? A watercolor class with no instruction? Bah humbug. You could have taught them something! Loved the orchids!
ReplyDeleteYou could be right, Barbara... she enjoyed making the masks (and wearing them), but not sure if she wants to make more. She may be on to another artist pursuit. She keeps a sketch pad and draws well... and loves making jewelry. And yes, I was a bit disappointed in the watercolor class, but apparently it wasn't that type of class.
DeleteYou have been busy. I hope the coming week is a little calmer.
ReplyDeleteLove the cat masks - and they do indeed look very well made. The orchids are great too.
And thanks for the purrs.
EC, this week isn't as bad on a daily basis, but have a dental appointment later in the week that scares the begeebees out of me...
DeleteHow wonderful for the 12 year old kitty to have a new home! Those masks are amazing. She could sell them at a Renaissance festival. Our K.C. shelter just did a fundraiser with a Mardi Gras theme. Lotsa folks with masks changed into cats or dogs and used in the promo materials. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteYes, Linda. I think the idea of taking in an old cat to love when your own passes is a way to give another a chance to live.
DeleteYou definitely had a very busy week! Your granddaughter is quite the talented artist. The masks are adorable.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the purrs for rain...we desperately need it here.
Sending you more purrs and good vibes for rain, Mae.
DeleteTeddy is such a handsome gentleman! I am in love with the kitty masks. I especially like the calico. What a talented young lady!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think Teddy is handsome too. And my favorites are the black and the calico!
Deletethe masks are wonderful, your granddaughter is talented!! the orchids are gorgeous, i think you could give yourself those b-12 shots yourself at home...if you are open to theat. get some rest!!
ReplyDeleteNo, Debbie, I'd rather Mary (nurse at my PCP's) give me my B-12 injections... she's good, don't even feel them. I gave injections, did minor surgeries, and closed on others when I worked in the Veterinary field... but never wanted to work on people.
Deletei understand!! it was just a thought, i do mine and it saves me another trip to the doctor!
DeleteHow wonderful that your cousin adopted a beautiful 12 year old ❤️ rescue 🐈 cat. Your granddaughter is creative. Beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. I think my cousin and Teddy are working out well.
