a hodge podge of thoughts and ideas...

Having been busy these last few weeks with visiting in the Hill Country, the unexpected trip to N.O., daughter and son-in-law coming home for a few days, learning to accept my new eye's condition, etc., I haven't had much time to think about things (or read)... as sometimes you just 'go with the flow' and do what needs doing.

Can't say I haven't enjoyed all of it... even the unexpected visit to N.O. for a family funeral, but now it looks like I may have a few weeks to just 'be'... and 'think' (and read!).  That may sound weird, but perhaps I am a bit weird. To be truthful, I've always thought weird or eccentric was kind of interesting... definitely  not boring (now there is a thing as "too weird" - that I don't care for).

Today I'm back to typing my children's short stories onto the computer so that I can eventually upload them into my book "In Remembrance of Me" (for my family). It will contain my stories, poems, thoughts, essays, and maybe even a few sketches and watercolors.

Since I know so little about my grandparents - having never thought to ask when they (or other family members) were still around to ask, I thought I'd leave some account of my life for those who might be interested (or not).

Also, I still need to put away Easter... or at least the baskets, plastic eggs, and a few other things that are still hanging around. I did take the "Happy Easter!" from my door a while back.

And I may need to make some Brown Butter Coffee syrup as well as some Turbinado Vanilla Sugar and some Power/Energy Balls to have on hand... and to put in my friend's upcoming birthday bag. These are all great and I can post the recipes - or just google.

Our little raccoon that comes by every night between 9 and 10 is still making his appearance. Here's a short video I made of him the other night. We have begun to call him "George Cooney".

(Don't forget to hit the little square button to make the video larger)

...and I will close this rambling post with a recommendation to watch The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair... which is streaming on Prime. It's one of the best shows we've watched in a long time.

And a few memes:

I do this...

it takes me a while in the morning...

I do this too...

As always, thanks for reading...

Hugs (virtual),

Rian

  1. Your raccoon is a cheeky fellow! Maybe that's his Oliver Twist version of asking for more. 😁

I wish my mom had left a memory book, or video, even audio. It's a wonderful thing to do for your family. ❤️

Alas, I look for my phone quite often, while I'm on it. I fear that doesn't bode well for the next decade or two, if I'm granted that time!

    1. We love "George"... he is so sweet, but should be quite fat with all the biscuits and bread he eats.
And I understand about wishing you mom left a book or video... even audio. Wouldn't it be nice to hear her voice whenever you wanted to? My cousin actually did do a video of my mom and her sisters years ago... but it was lost in Katrina.
And I'm sure we all do the 'look for the phone' thing - when we're actually on it!

  2. I like reading too, especially when my friend Rian has uploaded a new post. 🙂 Well Rian, I know you've been busy with your eye and your family, and I'm glad to hear you're writing. Just what you said, how I wish so much I knew more about my one grandma who I loved more than anything but left us without me knowing more. Enjoyed George C, and that last catty meme 😊❤️

    1. Dug, my eye is what it is... not bad, just not the same. Time will tell, but I'm OK with it. Want to hear something funny? Now (because of the tear duct surgery and stent) when I blow my nose, the air goes up through my eye... weird, huh? But apparently not uncommon.

Glad you enjoyed George - he is a young raccoon and seems very friendly. We don't touch him of course, but sometimes wonder if he'd come in if he had the chance.

As for the cat memes, they really fit me. Aging has made me 'not a morning' person. Takes me a while to feel OK enough to get up. Once I'm up, I'm fine. Hope you are having less and less issues with the LC. I look for your posts... and when I don't see one, I worry that you are having a difficult time.

  3. You found so many funnies to share, thank you. Laughs are precious. I will look for that tv show you like. Your memory book is a great thing you are creating.

    1. I know, Terra... we need to laugh these days... or else we'll cry (and that helps nothing).
Do check out that show on Prime. I'm not a big fan of 'thrillers' but this one is interesting and has so many twists and turns... it kept us guessing.

    1. Debbie, we will check out Marty Supreme... As for the raccoon, we've been lucky with all the critters around here. We do feed them, but they don't ever cause us any problems...

  5. I don't think you are weird at all!! You have been a busy lady and I am glad you have time to make some tea, put your feet up and read a book. And the book you are making is a sensational idea!
My husband and I were discussing trips and we both decided we enjoy staying in our own house and sleeping in our own beds. I guess we are a little weird too.

    1. I do understand, Miss Merry. We like being in our own house and in our own beds too... and it's not that we don't enjoy it when we're away, we do... but it's always a comfort to be home again.

  8. Glad you're working on a memoir of sorts. It's definitely a good use of your time, and will share your love for the next generation.

    1. Barbara, it's definitely 'a memoir of sorts'... ha! But I really wish one of my grandparents had left one for me. : )
