Our animal Xmas tree...

Our Animal Christmas Tree

Ornaments for cats we've had and lost...

Ghost

Julie

Rose

Thibs

There are many others on here, but I won't do all of them...
but they do all remain in our hearts forever

And I know you will think I'm a little nuts (and maybe I am) but I saw this on Facebook and thought 'yes, that's me'

(and we did give our treadmill to the Salvation Army this year)

and this is a sample of stupid little things I can't throw away:

(You may have to click it twice and enlarge to see it well)

I know I should toss it, but I see it on my desk and it makes me smile, then I wind it up and it makes me laugh.  He's missing arms and one eye and continues to do his thing...

BTW, my favorite Christmas song is "Mary, did you know". Wondering what is yours?

Hugs
(still virtual unless you're family),
Rian

Oh, one other thing... (3 dots - an ellipsis - and yes, Kay, I do use these a lot) But wanted to say that I still do Christmas cards and would love to send you one - but I need a physical address - if you care to send it to me (thanks, Joanne), my email is rian4541@aol.com. If not, that is fine too. (I do have some, but not all)

  1. How I love your tribute to the furry family members who have gone. Still loved and forever missed.
And I am GRINNING at the response to declutttering. None of the things mentioned bring me joy either. Ever.

  2. I am going to sound like a square here, but I don't care--those memorial cat ornaments are very sweet, Rian. I love your special tree, it really tugged at my heart. :^)

    1. Thanks, Dug. It's special to us... (and don't know why it would make you sound square - but glad you don't care )

  3. Love your animal Christmas tree ornaments. So sweet the tribute to those who are gone but only physically.
Laughed out loud at the what to throw and what to keep. Me too. Still have my unused treadmill though.
That frog is so cute. He is a keeper.

  4. Those are sweet ornaments. (On a different note, I love your cozy room with the wingback chairs on either side of the fireplace!) -Jenn

    1. They are huge wingback chairs, but we love them... very cozy to curl up in.

  5. I love your poignant tributes to those who have left. It's never the same when we lose them, but remembering the love they shared with you is priceless. And that green frog with the missing limbs is too precious to part with, I agree! And I smiled at your list of things to pitch! My favorite song is "The Little Drummer Boy."

    1. The Little Drummer Boy is definitely a Christmas classic... and I like it too. But I just love "Mary, did you know?" And I'm so glad you like my poor little frog, DJan. I guess it brings me joy in it's own way.

  6. Well, I would say that little frog sparks joy so it is definitely a keeper!
I really like "The Little Drummer Boy." It was part of my childhood -- released in 1958. I was 10.

    1. Thanks, Olga. He does bring me joy. And I'm older than you... in 1958, I was 13.

  7. I wouldn't throw away anything that makes you smile, much less makes you laugh. Merry Christmas!

  8. The ornaments with the cat photos are lovely. Such a sweet way to pay tribute.
I wouldn't be throwing out the frog either, it's hilarious.
My favorite Christmas song would be White Christmas, while a favorite Christmas carol is O little town of Bethlehem.

    1. Don't worry about not sending cards, Debbie. Many have dropped the tradition. That's fine with me. I still like to send them out... although I'm sure one day at some point I will stop... just not yet.

  10. Love your animals tree, and your kitties with angel wings. Thanks for the laugh about the "Japanese organizing;" I needed that! I like most every song on Alabama's Christmas Album, such as "Christmas in Dixie." Linda in Kansas

    1. Thanks, DM. There are some things that certainly don't bring you joy... throwing those out is easy.

  11. I love, love, love your animal tree and the picture ornaments of your cats. Those are so special. Keep the little frog. It is so cute and looks like it needs you. I can hardly throw away anything that has eyes. :) I recently brought home (from the thrift store) a long-legged rabbit that needed washing. It's best if I don't go near the toys in a thrift store. All the ones with eyes need homes. :)

    1. I don't know if the no armed one-eyed frog needs me, Henny... but he does bring me joy and makes me laugh. How about posting a pic of the long-legged rabbit from the thrift store?

  12. Oops! I can't pick a favorite Christmas song. I love so many of them. "Oh Holy Night" is really special, to me.

    1. I guess I like that song too, but "Mary, did you know?" just gets to me.

  14. Hi Rian! I'm happy to see someone else who loves the ellipsis. I probably haven't written many blog posts without it or without my sigh...

Your animal Christmas tree is really heartwarming. What a beautiful way to remember those loved members of the family.

    1. Thanks, Kay. When I 'proof' my books, I have to take out a lot of unnecessary ellipses. I tend to think or write in 'pauses'.
And we used to have the animal ornaments on the big tree, but there were so many, we finally decided they needed their own space.
