After this past week, I had a real need to get back to Bailey's Cove and 'just be'. So anyone who wants to join me there is welcome... or if you too need a place where life is kind, click here.
This blog is meant to be a documentation of our journey into the world of retirement. I know the title should be "Older, but wiser". However, I really didn't know if that would be accurate. The "Older, but better...?" title could also be misleading. The 5 cats in the above pics are: Molly, Rose, Tux, Julie, and Ghost. (I have tried to make this collage smaller, but with no luck...)

Back at Bailey's Cove...

I actually downloaded a few pics last week that comprise my imaginary place. Lots of rolling fields and woods for me, meadow with flowers, etc. :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't "need" to be back in Bailey's Cove this coming week, though.
Thanks... the 'need' will pass. But its nice to have a place. And I can't wait to see pictures of your place when you have it ready???
DeleteWhat a beautiful place - so different from the mountainous desert where I live 3000+ feet above sea level. :)
ReplyDeleteDifferent, yes. But each has its own beauty. I find it interesting how each of us is drawn to something different, but are able to appreciate the other's. An online friend (who has now passed away)had his special fantasy place in Utah. He loved it there and if I remember correctly, he called it, 'The Outpost'.
DeleteDear Rian,
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining my blog. Your blog is so warm and interesting that I'll just have to join you.
Here's my reply from my "A Speedy Box Turtle" post:
"I'd love to have turtles like yours on my property. Now it's a rare event to find even one box turtle. Maybe the increased housing in my area has taken away the turtle's natural environment.
A few weeks ago I saw a box turtle in the middle of the road. I made a U-turn hoping I could rescue it. It was too late. The poor thing was squashed on its left side.
I just hope it did not suffer."
I always stop and rescue turtles on the road. Found 2 this summer, but they were not box turtles, but huge red sliders (which are water turtles). I put them in my car's trunk and return them safely to the creek behind my house. Personally I think people use too many chemicals on their lawns and that is dangerous for the turtles, snakes, lizards, etc.
