Putting the holidays behind us...

New Discovery!
DH and I came across this tea at Teavana while walking in the mall during the holidays. Teavanna has samples of their tea out and we generally stop and try some during our walk. Well, this White Chocolate Peppermint Tea was a favorite for both of us.

So this past week we stopped and asked how it sold, etc. As much as I like tea, I'm hesitant to buy loose tea as you need to have the water temp right, the right amt of tea per cup, etc. or it never tastes like the tea in the sampling. Anyway, we were told that this particular tea was not that sensitive. You could just use boiling water and 2 tsp/8oz serving and it would be fine.  And since it was a *seasonal* tea, it was now 50% off.  So we bought a small amt to try at home. Well, it's really delicious and easy to fix. Also... reading up on Rooibos tea on the Internet.... apparently it's very good for you.  So it turned out to be a win-win!

Julie helping me 'put away Christmas'

And later that evening...

worn out from all her 'help'...

Just want to mention one little thing that has been going on here that is a little unusual... our North Texas Earthquakes.  Apparently they are small, but numerous... and centered mostly in Irving. However, Dallas has been feeling them also. And the largest one so far (just 3.6) we felt in our neighborhood here in Richardson. Oddly enough (or maybe not) one of the cats felt it first and startled.... DH even asked her what was wrong just before we felt it.  Right after that the whole neighborhood started texting.  Weird?

Considering all the goings on that are happening in the world right now its a small thing. But when it happens in your own backyard, you do sit up and notice.

  1. I had to look twice before seeing Julie on the table. LOL. Obviously she had a lot of work to do! :-)

Glad the tea turned out to be good. I used to drink tea before my coffee days, but now I admit to preferring various coffees. Tea would be better for me, though!

I hope the earthquakes remain minor. A few supposedly have been felt here in recent years, but I've not noticed at all. Sometimes the Ottawa region will get tremors. I imagine a "real" quake would be terrifying!

Purrs and peace from the boys.

    1. Kim, my dad was English from London and he drank a lot of Tea while my mom was French from New Orleans where Coffee is King... so I tend to drink both. Tea calms me.,. while Coffee wakes me up. However, apparently neither is good for bladder and kidneys, so I'm supposed to avoid them. And I try, but do cheat on occasions.

  2. Cats are already so helpful, aren't they? Julie was obviously exhausted from all her efforts!

I'm currently on the West coast of Canada on Vancouver Island and there was a quake last week of 4.8 magnitude. I didn't notice it but another woman I spoke to yesterday, who lives mere blocks away saw her dining room chandelier moving and felt it quite clearly. Scary!

Enjoy your tea and stay safe!

    1. Oh yes, Eileen 'cats are so 'helpful'... curious is probably the proper word, but Julie (like Jack - her deceased brother) likes to be part of what's going on (whether its putting away groceries or putting away Christmas).
Visited Vancouver about a year ago on the beginning of our Alaska cruise. Loved it. Wish we had had more time to see the sights. Wouldn't want to be there for an earthquake tho...

  3. We experienced a small earthquake in Vermont several years ago. I was still asleep when the cat leapt up on the bed and stood on my head to look out the window. He had never done that before. And then we felt the earthquake.

    1. I wonder if they hear it or feel it .... or just sense it before people do.

  4. My cats reacted first to an earthquake, years ago. All three simultaneously went through the tiny hole to their secret place under the kitchen cupboards. Rather like watching sausage squeezed into a casing. Then the 6 point something hit Ohio, sounding like a freight train.

    1. If we felt that small 3.6 quake, I can imagine you really felt that 6 point one! Don't want to experience that.

  5. Oh, poor Julie, totally exhausted from all that work, :) Earthquakes, not something i want to experience again in a hurry, not a big one anyway. Hope yours die away to nothing.

  6. Glad to know you survived your little quakes. Cats and I guess most animals feel them first. I saw Julie on the table in the first picture and confirmed it in the second one. :-)

    1. Apparently we're still surviving them... although we haven't felt any more in our area. But they seem to have become a daily occurrence. Just wonder what it means. I tend to think they may be due to our drought.

  7. I like rooibos tea, which I tend to drink later in the day when I'm easing off the caffeine. That white chocolate peppermint looks divine! I have an electric kettle with different temperature settings for different teas, which works well. I also like Davids Tea: http://www.davidstea.com/ They sell these little filters that are basically a do-it-yourself teabag. I love 'em: http://www.davidstea.com/david-s-tea-filters-100-pack?&TF=384C2498270F&DEID=

  8. And wow, the little earthquakes! I felt one a few years back when I was in the Ottawa library. Scared the heck out of us. It was 5.0 and everyone ran from the library which of course we know now is not the thing to do in an earthquake in a city with tall buildings. Hope the earth settles down there soon!
