Brownie Bark |
Today is rainy and cold. The cats and I are hanging out by the fireplace... Tux and Julie on my lap.
Tux patiently waiting for me to sit down |
OK... now Ghost is in here checking out our comfy chair by the fire.
Can I fit up there with you? |
At the moment DH is alternately chopping veggies and watching either soccer or football. He's making us a batch of Cajun red beans and rice this weekend. My favorite! Can't wait...
We went out to dinner with our youngest son and his family yesterday. There's a little Italian restaurant near their house in Rowlett that they frequent. DH and I split a plate of chicken Capellini (or something like that). It was very good. And I got some quality grand daughter time! She is 3 now and talking up a storm.
This next picture is one of our little (actually he's getting quite big) outside feral kittens. We call him the Lion King because of his mane. You can't see it well here, but it's a light grey and really showy.

Well, I guess that's about it here. I do have a few pics of Ghost defending her sunspot in the bedroom. They usually share, but occasionally can get a little possessive.
"It's my sunspot..." |
"Don't you dare..." |
So you see... life goes on.
Yep, life goes on. Glad I don't have any of that wonderful looking chocolate in MY house. Now to go rummage and find a substitute... :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan, I did bring *some* of the Chocolate Bark to a friend...
DeleteLove Ghost defending his spot, so would I.
ReplyDeleteDiana
Yes, Diana, as well as our 4 get along, they can get snippy at times.
DeleteYummy, that looks scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteYes, life goes on, Even when something dreadful happens and it feels like the world *should* stop, it continues. Easier to be an adored and pampered house cat or even a well-cared for feral. :-)
Purrs and peace from the boys.
The Brownie Bark is really good, Kim... and super easy to make. As for the pampered pets, well they do have it pretty easy.
DeleteGonna have to try that brownie bark, but I will wait til I have company to share it with.
ReplyDeleteCats certainly do have such expressive faces. It's really not hard to know exactly what they are thinking.
Olga, the Brownie Bark is easy to make and does keep well in a covered container. As for the cats' expressions, some are quite varied and others (like Ghost) are a bit subtle.
DeleteThat little face of Ghost makes me think of what Audrey will look like someday. :) The bark looks delicious. Deb
ReplyDeleteI don't dare make anything with chocolate in it. It wouldn't last a day.
ReplyDeleteI did give some away, but DH and I finished it in a few days.
DeleteThe brownie bark sounds wonderful, I'll definitely have to try it. If you wouldn't mind sharing your family recipe for red beans and rice I'd love that too. My first taste was in the Dominican Republic in 2007, it became my go-to at the resort. I suppose there are lots of recipes for it, but I've never made it.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of the cats doing what cat's do best...whatever they want. Hope life is getting a little easier.
Take care!
DH's red beans are fantastic. I absolutely love them. And yes, I will share the recipe. It's probably not too different from all the others out there, but then I've never checked.
