Sunday after Easter...

Grand daughter Easter Egg Hunting!

Isn't that a great smile?  And when it comes to hunting Easter Eggs, she is fast...

Son and youngest grandson's 9th Birthday!

Easter weekend was busy. Not only was it Easter, but youngest grandson turned 9 on the 28th!

And now that it's the weekend after Easter, the weather is beautiful! (It really wasn't bad Easter weekend either... although they did forecast rain Easter day - which didn't happen.)
But today is beautiful - cool and sunny. DH and I took a walk around the block a little while ago. Something we haven't been able to do in a long time (either too cold or too rainy). The inside cats are enjoying the sun and open windows and the outside feral cats are lying about in the grass and up in the trees.

and this morning...

first turtle of the season

Usually we don't see the box turtles showing up in the yard until around May. This guy was early... it's only April 3rd!

Well, I hope everyone is getting to enjoy this spring weather! If it stays this nice, I may be able to redo the hanging herb baskets next week. Our parsley is doing beautifully and some of the chives have come back... but I do need to replace other herbs that didn't make it through the winter... like sweet basil.  Our bay leaf tree has always done well and has kept us in bay leaves for years.

and there's not much left of the chives... but they're blooming!

and lastly... our overgrown back yard!

But... the good part about it is that the feral cats and wildlife do like it this way.

=^..^=

  1. Actually, I too like that overgrown backyard. Reminds me of being a kid and crawling around under the bushes. Happy spring to you, Rian, and thank you for the wonderful pictures of happy lives. :-)

    1. You know, DJan, we really used that backyard when the kids were growing up... even had a hammock on the patio down by the creek (and sat there for drinks in the evening). But now with the mosquitoes carrying West Nile (and possibly Zika), we have left it pretty much to the wildlife.

  2. Oh, all the green...I am so envious. We've no snow and had some lovely temps this week but it will be awhile yet before anything starts growing.

    Enjoy!

    1. Thanks, Eileen. It can green up almost overnight.

  3. Nothing says Easter like a child on an egg hunt. Love that smile.

    1. And she loves Easter Egg hunts! And chocolate! She has definitely inherited my chocoholic tendencies. So we stuff her eggs with stickers, toys, and tattoos... and a *little* chocolate)

  4. Lovely photos of the grandkids. They probably enjoy the 'overgrown' back yard as much as the cats do :)

    1. My oldest grand daughter does for sure. She loves the turtles and wildlife... and doesn't hesitate to don her rubber boots and go exploring down by the creek.

    1. It is! We have at least 6 regulars. I've marked them with a tiny dot of red nail polish when they come into the yard to eat the catfood. This way we can tell which ones are *newbies*.

  6. Your granddaughter is precious, and oh that yummy-looking birthday cake! :-)

Love the photos, it all looks so green and WARM. We're having an atypical Arctic blast this week. The windchill is minus 16 Celsius and we're having snow. NOT the kind of weather we want for the first week of April!

    1. Grandson's birthday cake was an ice-cream cake and it was delicious.
And it is green and warm! Can't believe the weather is still so cold where you live. Half the US may be moving to Canada next November, so it's got to get warmer. (kidding!-I hope)

  7. My pot of chives is up, but not blooming yet. It's as thick as ever. Mom planted the chives thirty years ago. I swear there can be nothing left in the pot but roots and they are living off rain water.

    1. I plan to add more chives this week. The blooms are pretty and although I don't use chives much in my cooking now, there's no reason not to start. Do you cook with yours, Joanne?
