First underglaze |
I did the first underglaze on my cat planter this morning. Have decided to make him a tuxedo cat - black and white (surprise! surprise!). But I'm just about out of underglaze so the black won't be added til I can get to the ceramic store (which is way across town) so probably not until next semester starts in May. I also wrote that 'plan' with my stylus on the computer picture. That's a new accessory that came with this computer (well, not came - I did have to pay extra for it).
Thinking it may be time to put out some Easter decorations (I finally took down our "Merry Christmas" sign off the front door).
Perhaps I should make some Easter Cheeky Chickens... you know in pastels... pink, blue, and lavender colors? Hmm..mm, since I can't fire anything these days, I'd better put that idea on the back burner.
Did you watch the Oscars? We don't exactly watch them, but do switch back to them during commercials just to see what's going on. The clothes and hairstyles are interesting. It's strange, but DH and I feel that most of the actresses and actors look better when in their normal attire. It would seem that the simpler the dress or tux, the better it looks. Outlandish doesn't work - but that may just be us.
Well, Spring may be on it's way. It's cool and windy today, but the weatherman says it may be 80 on Saturday!
Happy Tuesday to all! (NCIS New Orleans comes on tonight!)
I don't know if its just me but that cat looks mischevious, its the look in its eyes, lol

Well, Julie (our little black and white) IS mischievous... so maybe it's coming through my creation (LOL).
DeleteA tuxedo cat would be purr-fect :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished creation.
Hugs,
~Jo
I tend to lean that way... (toward black and whites). It'll be a while before I can finish since I won't be back in class until May (and there's no kiln for me to use here).
DeleteI watched most of the Oscars and enjoyed seeing the old retrospectives as well as Rita Moreno and Eva Marie Saint! :-)
ReplyDeleteWe can't sit and watch the whole thing... but we did enjoy bits and pieces. We also watch Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest in the morning and enjoy their observations.
DeleteThat cat planter is turning out gorgeous. I like your tribe of cats; I have one cat and she kindly accepted the small dog I adopted.
ReplyDeleteOur cats are used to having other animals added to the house-hold, so it's never been a problem. However, if you're new to my blog, we are down to 3 cats (the corner right 3). We lost Molly and Rose not that very long ago. But both were up there in age (over 20). The remaining 3 are 14, 14, and 12.
DeleteThat planter is going to be fantastic. I, too, can't wait to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched the Oscars in many years. I don't even know who most of the actors are anymore, and haven't seen any of the movies. I HAVE seen pics of the attire, though, and definitely agree that less (less skin, less outrageous) is more. Helen Mirren looked elegant and classy and gorgeous. I don't want/need to see anyone's boob implants, thanks very much. :-P
Thanks, Kim. As for the clothes at the Oscars... I agree wholeheartedly!
DeleteThe cat planter is adorable. Your work is so well done.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Olga. They are fun to create.
DeleteDear Rian, I watched NCIS New Orleans last night--per usual. Once again the lead actor's part was to show us that judging others is a tricky thing--best to always think the best.
ReplyDeleteThe cat planter is going to be eye-catching. You'll get lots of comments from those who visit your home. I feel so blessed--so fortunate--that felines have always been part of my life. Peace.
We watched NCIS N.O. last night too. We do enjoy it.
DeleteHopefully the cat planter will make it to the studio and into the kiln... and out in one piece. A campus studio is an unpredictable place. Sometimes things disappear and sometimes things get handled and broken. Clay is fragile.
Oh, I just love your cat planter! Can't wait to see it finished. I don't watch the Oscar, but do see magazines occasionally that show how the stars were dressed, and I agree with you. Their every-day clothes would have to look better.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Henny.
DeleteI love this cat planter! A great expression on it's face. Is it for sale?
ReplyDeleteVic, I never know the fate of the things I make... some get kept, some given away as gifts, some sold. We shall see if it makes it through the firings.
