You might think I like cats...

Pretty Boy (outside feral) in the bushes

Well, March has finally arrived... and the sun with it! We have had 2 days so far that have been really nice.  Tux is sunning himself in the window at the moment. The front and back yards are a bit soggy with all the rain we've had -  so perhaps the sunshine will help dry that up.

I have kept busy this past week working on a *cat planter*. I have almost finished the sculpting of it. Now it needs to dry a bit so I can cut out the back area for inserting a plant. Haven't decided what color I will glaze it... perhaps black and white like our Tux. We'll see.

And I'm thinking about quilting one of these 2 next quilts that I found on Pinterest. I really love that pastel log cabin quilt... and although I like the book quilt too, I'm thinking the log cabin one may take precedence. (There's a cat quilt that I thought was interesting too...)

I'm a slow quilter, so either may take me a very long time.

This morning I was vacuuming and sucking up cat hair... as well as cat toys from beneath furniture. Here is a picture of Julie with some of the extra toys found here and there.

(This last pic is an old one you may have seen before... but couldn't leave Tux out)

Happy Friday!!

  1. Julie looks like she's thinking "where have you all been?" lol I love the cat planter, Rian. Geesh...that is really good.

    1. Julie loves her toys... and prefers to have them gathered around her. Occasionally she swipes them all off the counter one after another... and sometimes carries one around in her mouth.

  2. My poor cat feels abandoned this week, I've been out more than in. But then, he sleeps a lot and misses things, too.

    1. Our cats are very spoiled. If you don't pay attention to them, they will follow you around the house fussing the whole time. Actually the 2 black and whites do this. Ghost spends a lot of time sleeping... but does loves being brushed.

  3. That planter is amazing, I love it!

I also love that book quilt, complete with a cat on the shelf. What a wonderful piece of art that would be to have hanging up. Good luck if/when you tackle either (or both) of the quilts.

Oh, and send some sun to us! After a rainy February, March is bringing back snow. Boohoo!

    1. Hi Kim, I'm getting ready to cut out the back of the cat planter. It has to be just barely leather hard to do this. If the clay is too soft, the rest will droop... and if it's too hard it will crack. Wish me luck!
I've seen several book quilts. This one so far is my favorite. And I agree that it would look good hanging on a wall.
      Sending sunshine your way!!

  4. That title made me chuckle -- as in: Now where would ever get that impression?

    1. Olga, I'm really not the crazy cat lady. DH is the crazy cat man. But I will admit that they add their own kind of love to our lives.

  5. Yes, I think you like cats, all right. You made a cute planer out of one, too. I think it should be black and white. Just my two cents. :-)

    1. I think you're probably right... it should be black and white.

  6. Gosh, you are clever. Quilting is hard enough but making that planter is highly artistic.
You must be a very creative lady.

    1. Hi Friko! Don't know about the artistic part, but love creating things. Still haven't checked out that cozy mystery you recommended, but will as soon as I finish
reading 'Ice Blue', a Lord ad Lady Hetheridge mystery series a friend lent me.

  7. Good gracious! All those cat toys! Makes my three cats look deprived. :) We do have two or three around. I love that cat planter! You really are an artist.

    1. Well, at one time we had 8 cats... won't go into that story. But our cats do love their toys. They lay with them, throw them around, and carry them in their mouths. And since I don't look under furniture for toys (cats or kids) too often, they do collect underneath.
