a long overdue invention? and updates...

Saw this in the new AARP magazine that just came in the mail... something to help us find our glasses. (Well, I hardly ever take off my glasses, so this particular item I don't have a need for) But for those of you who use reading glasses or different ones for reading and/or computer, this might be helpful.

And if you read the last part of this article, apparently there is something similar called a 'Tile Sticker' that works on things like your house keys, TV remote, etc.

It does work through your smart phone, so if you can't find your phone.... you have a problem. Lucky for us, DH can always call mine (and I do misplace it a lot).

And for those of us who have cats, I would like something I could put on them so that I could find them more easily. Most of the time they are in specific favorite locations, but not always. Sometimes they find a secret spot - usually its when we have to be somewhere on time and go to 'count heads' before we leave... and one of them is nowhere to be found. (I do have one cat "Tux" who will come when called) but 2 others that secretly watch us and enjoy the hunt.

Next are just a few funny cat posters that made me laugh:

definitely Julie!

Hugs,
Rian

(Update on Julie:  alert, active, eating some, but not a lot, taking her antibiotics and steroids - some improvement but not as much as we would like.

On another note, (when it rains, it pours) - Julie's sibling, Tux, has taken a bad turn. He was diagnosed in chronic kidney failure (with tumors) 3 years ago. But he has been fine - occasionally having an episode of not eating for a day or so, but always bouncing back fine. This week he's not bouncing back...

  1. I'm so sorry that Tux isn't doing well and that Julie's problem persists (at least there's some improvement). I'm sending healing energy to them both...it's such a worry. I hope all will be well for them both...and you!

BTW, the whole opening 3 or 4 more cans of cat food fit angel Nicki to a "T"! :-P

    1. I know... Julie too (about the cans of food). And we lost Tux last night... so fast. Will write a post on him later this week. Can't right now.

  2. So sorry to hear about Tux, but happy to hear that Julie is doing better. When it rains, as you said, well... it pours.

    1. Julie is doing minutely better... but now that we lost Tux, I don't know how that will affect her. She slept wit us last night. She and Tux usually sleep together.

  3. These cats worry us owners so much don't they. I think I worry more about the cats than I do about Tom and he is ill. Tom can say how he feels but with the cats you have to keep a close watch as they are so good at hiding how they feel.
After Ruperts two costly ops we are watching him like a hawk.
I do hope Julie and Tux buck up soon for all of you, I know what its like.
As for the glasses finder, we could both do with that, our glasses often hide, lol

    1. I know, Briony, its so hard to tell what they are feeling. Tux was not eating for a few days, but I was feeding him with a syringe trying to keep his strength up. Hoping he would bounce back. But it became obvious fairly quickly that his body was shutting down. Vet said we could try to 'bring him back' but no matter what they did, it would just be a matter of time.

  4. oh dear, so many cat tribulations, that is so hard, the last cat looks like my Bonkers, and same with the cat food, I alternate his wet food varieties and he has two dry food varieties at all times, a definitely finicky eater and the first I've had, I try to put every item I have in the same place so I can locate it, not having a smart phone I don't think it would help me; as far as taking my pills that is another story, did I toke it today or was that yesterday, dh got me one of those pill weekly fillers but I need to get around to filling it, lol

    1. Linda, I have no pills to take and if I did, I'd never remember to take them. Our eye doctor told me he thought it was important at our age to take a vitamin that included lutein for the eyes. He actually called me to remind me of this. So... I bought some Silver Centrum with lutein (have to half it as I have trouble swallowing pills) But so far, I've remembered to take it (actually have a reminder on my cell phone).

  5. Sadly, I don't have any helpful advice about poor little Julie. But when my cat had an unusual problem, my vet was able to access a professional VET Only website. She posted the problem so other Vets could offer solutions etc. Best of luck with your beloved cat friends.

    1. Thanks, Mary. Our Vet has consulted with some other vets, but so far... nothing has changed. She is on a liquid steroid and an antibiotic. It's been a little over 2 weeks and her jaws are still locked.

  6. You are going through a trying time with the Julie and Tux. I am so sorry to hear that. Good you can find those posters to give you a laugh. I am going to send them on to my daughter and grandchildren. they will enjoy them as well.

    1. Thanks, Olga. It is trying. Tux went down so fast... and Julie is getting very thin. She's eating and I'm force feeding some, but apparently it isn't enough.

    1. Joanne, we really worried that we would go before them. Had planned who would take them if this happened. Our cats usually live a good 20+ years. This going at 15 seems wrong.

  8. Oh my, our kitties are our best friends, and when one is ailing, the whole household is upset!

    1. We have lost cats before... over the years. Most were pretty old 19+, one had feline leukemia and lived for 6 years on meds, but succumbed at 10. The one who lived to 23 had grand mal seizures at the end. But none of this makes it any easier. However, the joy they all brought into our lives was worth the sadness at the end...

  9. Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that Tux passed away so quickly. I hope Julie rallies soon.

I can't do without my glasses so that device wouldn't be useful. My cellphone, yes!

    1. It was fast. Guess we were so worried about Julie that Tux going downhill so fast shocked us.
And I agree about the glasses (never take mine off except to sleep - and sometimes I fall asleep with them on). But goodness, I lose my cellphone in the house several times a day.

  10. I am so sorry that Julie is only doing marginally better and so sad that you have lost Tux. It is so darn hard to care for aging animals. My heart hurts for you.
