Getting closer to publication...

This is the first copy of the new sequel to "Time After Time". It is basically Book 2 of Annie's Story. But as you can see, it is not out for publication yet. This is the author's first 'proof' copy to see how the cover looks as well as a last chance to proof check.

I like the cover and have already gone through another 'proofing'. So it's just a matter of uploading and submitting the finished product. If I can get it all done by the end of next week, it should be available on Amazon before the end of August. It will be in paperback first, but Kindle soon after.

And I have a question, have any of you used Kindle's Vella?  It's another publishing site on Amazon where you publish only Chapters at a time... kind of a continuing ongoing saga. I'm not exactly sure how it works and was just wondering if anyone had tried it (reading or publishing).

Now for those of you who are not the least bit interested in an old lady(Annie)'s story of life after widowhood, I want to tell you that while we just recently got rid of beaucoup books at Half-price Bookstore, I also just took home 2 boxes of books from a friend's house. Most of these I've already read - like Miss Julia, Aunt Dimity, etc. But I will read them again. They are fun night-time reading and I have enjoyed them over the years. I also brought home The Outlander series, Lady of Hay, and just recently finished re-reading Galway Bay. These are also favorites, but heavier reading.

I don't have a lot to share this post. I did visit my Cardiologist this week for a routine check. As far as I can tell, everything is fine although he wants me to come back for an Vascular Ultrasound in a few weeks. I've been having a strange tingling sensation running down the right side of my neck lately. I assume it's just another one of those mysterious old age symptoms, but he wants to check it out.

Oh, and our granddaughter returned to school this week (as I'm sure many of yours did also). She is only 9, but seems older in this picture...

And it's Friday! TGIF! Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Hugs (virtual),
Rian

  1. My gosh, that's exciting about your book Rian. And along with all those books you enjoy reading (and re-reading) you sure keep yourself busy! I hope your tingling is figured out, I've had something very similar between my shoulder blades, a constant tingling. I'm wondering if it's a pressed nerve or gallbladder related. Anyway, your granddaughter is pretty as a picture! Very sweet photo, and she looks about 9 to me! :^)

    1. I do enjoy reading, Dug... and fiction more than non, but I find that historical fiction is pretty good too. Galway Bay, the Outlander Series, and Lady of Hay are historical fiction and really interesting stories. As for the tingling sensation down the side of my neck... started just a few weeks ago. Don't imagine it's anything to worry about... but may have something to do with circulation. Mine can't be gall bladder related as they removed my gall bladder years ago.

  2. HUGE congratulations on getting closer to publication. Your grand daughter does look older than nine. Good luck with the medical tests too.

    1. Thanks, EC. The story line had been finished ages ago... just didn't work on the proofing, etc. until recently. Lots of reasons.

    1. They do grow up fast... or so it seems to me. All the grandkids are taller than me except this youngest one - and she is getting there.

  5. Congratulations on reaching publication of your second book. Very impressive.
Hope all goes well with your follow-up with the cardiologist.
It always seems to me that children tend to grow fastest in the summer. My grandson starts kindergarten this fall - school doesn't start here until September.

    1. School used to start after Labor Day... but it's changed over the years. Now the kids go back in August.

  6. I am also looking forward to your new book. Maybe I should reread the first one so I'll be up to speed when it comes out. And I do hope your medical issues turn out to be minor. :-)

    1. You can reread the first book (it isn't long), DJan, but I did kind of a quick recap at the front of the sequeal - just for this reason...

  7. Dear Rian, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! How exciting that you've completed the sequel to that wonderful first book of yours. I've been waiting. Now I need to go back and reread #1 so I'll be ready to enjoy #2.

I so like the cover for this second book. I'm not sure whether I'll be able to read a paper/print copy because of vision concerns. So I'll probably wait for the e-book.

That is, unless you think that the type size and the space between lines is really okay for older eyes. If so, please let me know and I'll be able then to read the book sooner rather than later. I'm so excited for you. Peace from Dee Ready

    1. Hi Dee! The paperback will be out first, but I plan to get it on kindle also. As for whether you will be able to read the paperback, it will be the same size print as the first... so knowing that may help. We did print both books a little larger than some paperbacks for the older reader. But if not, kindle print is adjustable (love that about it!).

    2. Thanks for the info, Rian,. I’ll look at the first one and see what I think because I really would like to read the book sooner rather than later! I am so happy for you and so in admiration of your doing this I just can’t seem to move forward with my own writing. Peace, Dee

    1. The reading problem... is it part of the MS? I know some people just aren't into reading, but I didn't realize it could be a problem with MS...
