just a few simple things...

I think this is true...

It's Saturday morning here and raining. We had thunderstorms all night and now warnings of flash flooding. Generally this doesn't affect our area, and since there's no warnings of tornados, we're good.

We don't have a large porch here.
But love to do this at my daughter's in the hill country

I really don't have much to post about. But thought I'd post a few pics and memes. We did have 2 bobcats in the yard the other night.  I have videos, but they're not too good as we have to chase them out quickly before they find any feral cats or kittens. But if you look carefully, you will see one in the yard in the first video and one on the fence in the second... and DH chasing the one out on the fence in the third.

*Remember to hit the small square to enlarge video,

then the arrow to play...

and 'esc' to get back to blog*

We get lots of wildlife in our backyard due to the creek and greenback behind us. We have seen bobcats before... but not often. We see more coyotes, raccoons, possums, box turtles, frogs, and snakes... and of course feral cats.  We welcome all but the coyotes and bobcats for as beautiful as they are, they are a danger to the smaller wildlife.

The next pic is one I took of our neighbor's peacock sculpture. Their tree died and they had someone do this:

and lastly just a meme that I thought worth mentioning (especially in today's world):

and...

Hugs (virtual),

Rian

  1. Hi Rian, I always get cheered up when I see a new post from you. Glad you got to enjoy your thunderstorms, we had storms all night too but I'm guessing they're more common up here. Wow about the bobcats, I liked that first video but are they dangerous to humans? And I loved that peacock sculpture, just wonderful! I hope your weekend is filled with all the ordinary things you enjoy. :^)

    1. No, Dug, the bobcats are not really dangerous to humans... never seen one attack, just run away. They are really gorgeous animals... some of their markings are beautiful. But they do go after smaller animals. Enjoy your weekend and I look forward to your next post... (any plans for Easter, Dug?)

    2. Very interesting, thank you Rian. No plans for Easter, but I always watch The Ten Commandments that airs that weekend.

  2. Beautiful yard...and wow to the bobcats! Though I agree that they tend to be dangerous to small living things! They must be hungry these days.

  3. I love that first meme, all of them actually.

The bobcat! 😯 I've never seen one in person. Magnificent Beings, but definitely dangerous to the smaller non-humans around.

And kudos to the person who did the peacock sculpture, it's fabulous!

Have a lovely weekend and week!

    1. Thanks, Kim. The bobcats are magnificent... and some are so different - spots differ and tuffs on ears differ. And yes, the tree sculpture is really neat.

  4. Bobcats and coyotes sound so exotic to me. I would love to see either, even knowing that they prey on smaller critters ((while hoping the little critters escape).
Grandma's rules sound pretty good to me. How I wish more powerful people took them to heart.

    1. I'm not sure bobcats and coyotes are exotic, EC... but they are definitely interesting. The coyotes can be quite big, but the ones we see are pretty thin. They get into our yard even though we have a 6 ft fence.
As for Grandma's Rules... yes, some powerful people must have grown up without a grandma.

  5. I'm glad you and DH were there to chase the bobcats away. If they realized the danger, I'm sure the details were appreciative too.

    The peacock sculpture is amazing!

I hope the bad weather moves on soon. Take care.

    1. Thanks, Mae. There's been times we weren't quick enough... and a coyote has grabbed a cat or kitten. But we try..

    1. Thanks, DJan. The bobcats came back again to play in the yard. We think they're young ones that mom has left on their own...

    1. These are young... and pretty curious. They seem to like the tall grass in our backyard.

    1. The 2 young bobcats came back again yesterday. Don't think they're hunting... just playing in the tall grass. And yes, I saw the sculpted tree you posted... very nice... I believe it was dolphins and marine life.
