Easter weekend... and a question

Easter 2026 at the Vinyard

Not the best pic of us... but we are together... and that's something. DH is in back with daughter,  and me and son-in-law with oldest granddaughter. Granddaughter is taking the selfie outside the restaurant where we ate Saturday night. I had pecan crusted salmon, with fried spinach, and cauliflower risotto - delicious!  I'd never had risotto before. It's very good!

Here is a pic of youngest granddaughter's Easter 'bucket'. She forgot to return her Easter basket from previous years... so she is stuck with an Easter bucket (ha!). Also she likes weird things.. (somewhat Goth at 13). So, instead of a chocolate Easter bunny, she got a Douglas rat! His name is Ralph Rat and since she collects Douglas dogs, I thought it appropriate (he really is cute).

It was rainy and cool enough on Sunday to heat up daughter's pot bellied stove in the kitchen... which warmed me up. Daughter graduated in Interior Design and worked as such for a few years, but was offered a job as a Closer at a Title Company and has done this as her major career.... but she's still a Interior Designer at heart. Her house is always filled with holiday decor... right now 'bunnies everywhere'! Here are a few pics:

So, that about covers Easter weekend. We did get to walk around Boerne on Saturday, eat lunch there, and shop a few stores. But although the morning was nice, the afternoon was windy and raining.

Youngest son and family didn't come to the hill country this year as they had just returned from Spring Break in New Orleans. And Oldest son and his wife stayed in Mission, Tx - but we all texted or talked on Easter.

Going to close this with some memes I found on my phone that I probably have posted before (forgive me), but really like... so bear with me.

I do this... a lot

I do this a lot too...

one of my favorite activities

and...

... and you are!

... and just a quick question:

We used to Skype with friends and family. Now Skype is gone. What can we use to video chat now?  I've heard of Google video and Zoom, but have never used either. Any recommendations?

Ok, closing now. Thanks for hanging in there!

  1. Rian, you have such a nice looking family! I can't believe how grownup your granddaughter is! Also loved the Easter bucket, very clever.... and your daughter's table decoration was so nice, she's obviously very talented. I sure am sorry I have no answers for your videochat question, I thought everyone used Facetime now? Is just for Apple folks? Anyway, I'm very glad your Easter was such a nice one, and your meal sounded delicious. :^)

    1. Thanks, Dug. I can't believe how old my granddaughter is either. These grandkids grow up so fast... only one young one left and she's a teen-ager already. As for daughter's decor... I love the bunnies! And I don't care for Facebook (for lots of reasons), but will find a video chat eventually. My eye isn't back to normal, but I can live with it... some things are what they are.

  2. Your family Easter looked wonderful, and oh, all those decorations...I love them!

That "nap" meme is spot on. I used to be a fantastic napper, all my life until I hit my 50s. After that? When I need naps more than ever? Nope. Not able to anymore.

I use WhatsApp to video chat, haven't had any problems. Knock on wood. I always lock down my settings as tightly as possible, of course. It's been a great way to keep in touch with my dad in the Vancouver, BC area and my uncle in Italy.

    1. Kim, I don't nap often, but occasionally I will fall asleep in the late afternoon while reading (maybe once or twice a week). It doesn't affect my sleep at night. As for the video chat, I will check out WhatsApp...

    1. Thanks, Jenn. Read your post and sounds like you had a lovely Easter with family too. And it was pretty chilly there also (Canada probably more than Texas).

  4. Zoom is easy to use. My daughter set up many family zooms during Covid and my genealogy club still meets on Zoom during the winter since none of us like to travel at night when it gets dark early.
What a great family Easter! Such a good looking family. Your daughter has a beautiful home!

    1. I used to belong to a pottery club that used Zoom... but it's been a while and I was never the person who set it up. But I can check into it. Know you must have had a great family Easter too... with all those kids. The holidays are so much more fun with little ones around.

    1. Debbie, we had rain part of the day Saturday and almost all Sunday... but it wasn't a storm, just rain... and chilly. And I do have an iPhone, but don't use Facetime. Will check out Zoom, Google video, and WhatsApp.

  6. Your Easter weekend sounds lovely! Risotto is delicious though I don't get to enjoy it very often.
I have used zoom, but only for meetings that were set up by other people. I've no real understanding of how it works.

  7. Oh Rian, that is a beautiful family picture! You have a lovely family! I agree, the framed bunny picture is beautiful and should stay out year-round. Aren't rabbits beautiful?! You always post the best memes.

  8. My daughter always arranges the Google Video chats for us. So far, it's worked great. It's difficult since our son is in Africa, our daughter is in Chicago and we're in Hawaii. She's always got to find the time that would work best for all of us.
