Here are a few of my cups in the cup cupboard. And of course a few bunnies hopped in for the shots...
These little Beatrix Potters were bought in England and the Mama duck always reminds me of my 'Odd Little Duck' story...
These little buggers I made when my kids were small...
This is my favorite David Winter piece. I think it's called, "Looking for George".

Chocolate Pecan Espresso Cinnamon Scones
It's Sunday morning and I made scones for breakfast. I always *tweak* my scone recipes and this time I added brown sugar, espresso powder and cinnamon to the chocolate and pecans (also extra vanilla). They are yummy!
Yesterday we celebrated my youngest grandson's 6th birthday. We went to a place called The Main Event and we all bowled. I haven't bowled in years.... and believe it or not, I did pretty well. We bowled, ate, drank, and passed Aoife (4 month old grand daughter) around. I think she rather liked all the activity. Didn't fuss at all. Then we came home and had pizza and a soccer decorated cupcake birthday cake! Later that evening I made hamburgers and youngest grandson honored me with a ("these are good!"). He is not a big eater... except maybe for pizza and corny dogs.
So... the weekend is progressing well. The weather here is cold (39) and sunny... a bit cold for my taste, but at least the sun is out. I hope to get a chicken pot pie made for this evening and my computer room cleaned up before tomorrow. I had to take home all my clay tiles (for the chess board) to sand them down and let them dry during spring break. This last week was Spring Break for us.
Oh, BTW, I got to go to the DMA (Dallas Museum of Art) this past Thursday. We also visited the Nasher Sculpture Garden. My friend who is an Art Major took me. I think she and our Instructor decided that I need some Art Appreciation Instruction. All my art is 'self learned'... since I was in the Sciences in college. So, outside of the fact that I enjoy creating in the art field, I have no 'formal knowledge' of it. It was 'interesting'. The exhibit was *Chagall* and I will admit that I had a hard time 'appreciating' it... but the outing was fun.

Just popping in to say Hello.
ReplyDeleteLove the collectables, aren't they fun. Sounds like you've been keeping busy.
N
Glad to hear from you, Norma. Yes, we do keep busy... not as busy as some, but busy enough for me.
DeleteI'm happy you're having such a good weekend with your family.
ReplyDeleteThe scones look delicious!
Thanks, John. I hadn't made scones in a while, so we did enjoy them.
DeleteMmm...the scones look yummy. I can almost smell them.
ReplyDeleteYou have a couple of handsome men in your family.
The chocolate and espresso did fill my kitchen with a wonderful smell...
DeleteLooks like you have had a fantastic few days ...the only bowling I do is on the Wii. Love all your collectables.
ReplyDeleteI really cant get over the differences in cooking ...our scones are not baked in a tin but are cut out and placed on a flat baking tray. As for the tin ...now that is amazing ... I had never seen one like this until yesterday when I saw one on a facebook page, that had square shapes. Is it all in one piece or do you place the shaped bit in, like a cutter ...how do you prep it ready for baking?
What ever the way they are cooked ...the scones sound amazingxx
Angie, it's all in one piece... cast iron. It consists of of one large square made up of 4 small squares that are divided into 4 triangles each... thus, 16 triangle scones. I get the dough ready, then divide it into 2 pieces - square them off with my hands and cut them diagonally once, and then again. These pieces fit perfectly into the 16 spaces. I then brush the dough with a little egg water and sprinkle sugar or cinnamon sugar on top. (I prep the pan with a little Pam - spray oil)
DeleteCute little cupboard with all the bunnies. That first one looks so happy. :)
ReplyDeleteI have never made scones and it is on my list of things I must try. These sound very good. Glad you enjoyed your weekend. I'm just back from a Home Show and if I never see another roof shingle or plumbing parts again that is fine with me. Deb
Deb, I think you'd like scones. They are a little like tea cakes... which are also great with tea (IMO because they are not terribly sweet).
DeleteI am standing in front of the laptop with my fingers making a cross in front of those scones. I am in real danger of running out the door and getting something like those and snarfing them down! No, really, it all sounds wonderful. Your culinary skills are simply awesome! :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan, you are too funny. And we do eat healthy around here... for the most part. I only cook with fresh veggies and mostly chicken and a little fish (not much red meat - a roast occasionally or meatballs and spaghetti)... lots of salads. But we do like our sweets on occasion.
ReplyDeleteLove all your photos, but of course, I love "Looking For George" the most! :-)
ReplyDeleteMmmmm, I don't think that every person has to appreciate, every form of art. Me-thinks that one's inner self does just fine, with telling us, what WE resonate with, and what we DON'T. :-)
Well, Auntie, I had to tell myself that what I 'like' and what I can 'appreciate' doesn't have to be the same thing. I try to correlate it with food. I can appreciate some foods for their health value, but don't necessarily like them... same with art I suppose.
DeleteRian, I am so in love with your treasures...I love collectables!!!
ReplyDeleteNow taht I have read about all of this tasty food...I'm hungry :) Time for lunch and a nice hot cup of tea~~~
Hi Jan, I love collectibles too, but I don't have too many. Some I have already given to my kids and the ones I still possess, I use - like my teacups or they have some sentimental value - like they were given to me by someone special or bought on a trip, etc.
DeleteYou have definitely been happily busy....love the tea cups and the blue mug with the cat decal is really nice.
