| Aint' that the truth... |
Saw this on Pinterest the other day and thought, "Yes!"
Guess we all have those days. Well, classes started this week. I'm back in my aerobic/yoga class twice a week. Am I sore already? You bet. This morning I woke up thinking... 'oh no, I can't move. How can I go do more exercise?' But I did and it was fine. Sometimes I have to tell yourself to 'just do it!'
Pottery class won't start for another week. And I am anxious to get back to it. But since I missed the whole spring semester, I was able to spend more time on my writing. I now have a little over 20,000 words into my latest work. Will I ever finish it? Don't know. But lately it seems to be flowing well... and I certainly enjoy the process.
This past week my 5 year old grand daughter had her dance recital. She takes dance, gymnastics, and swimming. I love watching the little ones at these recitals. They are so cute in their costumes... and whether they actually perform or not, they are adorable. After the performance, we all went out for frozen yogurt.

She also came over to our house the other night while her parents attended an orientation for her kindergarten class this Fall. While here she decided that I didn't have enough pins, flowers, and hair clips and said she would bring some over next time so she could do my hair properly. 5 year olds are really fun.
Actually 19 year olds are fun too. My grandson who is visiting with us right now told me that our house was like living in a zoo. This might not seem like a compliment, but I believe he meant it as such as he seems to enjoy the cats inside and the abundance of critter activity outside. And since our youngest son is the curator of the Herpetology Dept at the Dallas Zoo, we take any zoo reference as a good thing.
And lastly DH and I made our semi annual visit to Ham's Peach Orchard in Terrell, Texas this past week. We loaded up on fresh peaches, peach ice-cream, peach cobbler, peach cider, etc. Here are a few pics!

Peaches...just love fresh peaches. How lucky you are!! (Of course all the grands are special too.)
ReplyDeleteTabor, I'm not much of a fruit eater. I do eat apples, green grapes, and bananas... but fresh peaches are a favorite!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE fresh fruit, especially berries, and always have some on hand. Yum to the peaches and that home-made peach ice cream.
I like that quote, btw. I've seen it elsewhere, not with the owls, and I absolutely concur. :-)

DeleteI hadn't seen that quote before... but the "...here is chocolate and Six million dollars" made me laugh.
So many peaches, so little time! I love peach ice cream especially. I might have to go get some to celebrate the beginning of summer! :-)

DeleteOh my goodness, I would love to go to a peach orchard and try all of those peachy foods. Dance recitals were a big part of our lives with our own daughter. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteThe Peach Orchard was started years ago by a retired couple. Now their college aged grand kids practically run the show. It's become a semi annual event with us.

ReplyDeleteSome peaches are ready... not all. But the ones we got were really sweet. The orchard opens every year on May 15th and closes on Aug 15th. DH's brother and his wife come up to go there with us again in August.
DeleteYour grand kid is adorable. The peaches got my attention also. The first pie I learned to bake was a peach pie. I think I just drooled.

Yes, Friko, exercise is good. I hadn't gone to an exercise class since my appendectomy last summer... so yes, I am both rusty and stiff. But I will continue to go as I believe it is good too... and I like the comradery.

ReplyDeleteOh my, those peaches and berries look lovely. It is still far too early here, it will be August or September before the local fruit is ready. Thank goodness for imports. I picked up strawberries yesterday for $2/quart (or approximately a quart). I cut up two baskets to freeze, the third we'll eat fresh.
Your granddaughter is both adorable and funny. I'm certain your grandson was meaning his comment as a compliment. Thanks to you and your DH, the outside animals you care for have a chance at a better life. The indoor cats...well, we all know who rules the roost. :)

Eileen, the peaches were very sweet. We love strawberries too. I make a salad with fresh baby spinach, strawberries, red onion, and amaretto pecans... and use a poppyseed dressing.
DeleteDear Rian, you and your husband must like peaches as much as I do! Especially peach pie and ice cream! Western Missouri has some large peach orchards--down by Lexington where a Civil War battle was fought. Starting in late June and then throughout July, three friends and I go "peaching" every Saturday. I gobble them up with cereal and as desert for a week and then I'm ready for our next trip.
ReplyDeleteThe peach stands also have veggies and jam/jelly so the Saturday trips get a little expensive for me but I enjoy them so much! Peace.
It can get expensive, Dee... but we go only twice a year so its not too bad. And we enjoy it too!
