a Tuesday...

I haven't posted in almost a week  - and haven't anything really interesting to say today.  But I saw this on Pinterest and it gave me a good laugh... (at least I hope it's laughable).

There isn't anything new going on around here and I haven't any pretty nature pics to show... wait! there is something new. That little feral cat that we call Olivia that shows up in the back window...

Remember her?

Well, she showed up yesterday with 6 kittens!  (3 black, 2 black and white, and one little Siamese) No wonder she's always hungry.  They look about 6 weeks old and run very fast when we open the back door. I'll try to get a picture. Right now she's very skittish if we even get close to the door when the kittens are there.

I did make Chicken Tetrazini the other day. Made enough for supper and to freeze for another day.

a favorite of our grandson

And our Celeste fig tree is producing:

first batch

There is a big difference between Celeste figs and BrownTurkey figs:

Celeste on right, Brown Turkey fig on left

Celeste figs are smaller and sweeter. They are our favorite. We let the wildlife have the Brown Turkey fig  (The Blue Jays especially like them... but so do the box turtles)

I really wish we had some cool lush woody nature areas to walk in... like DJan has in her photos.  I came across this Bitmogi the other day and I remember saying, " I wish..."

Oh well, it looks like I found a few semi-interesting things to talk about. Hope you are all staying well and out of the heat.

hugs,
Rian

  1. The first meme is both funny and frightening. You're sure having a tough time of it these days.

The feral cat barely looks to be more than a kitten herself. It's nice that you're feeding her (and by extension the kittens).

    Take care and stay well!

  2. I like figs dried but not fresh. No idea why.

  3. I do remember that sweet faced Olivia. Goodness 6 babies, guess she will be needing more food. Have fun with those babies.

    1. First, we thought she had one... brought it by one day. Then 5... then yesterday 6! We wondered if she was taking in other cats' kittens, but so far - no more.

  4. You had plenty to talk about! Poor little cat, with so many mouths to feed. I'm glad she has you to help her. And I also wish I could send you some of our beautiful greenery. I love fresh figs, too. :-)

    1. Olivia is a very good mother... if one is not around, she will run off and find it. Once while she was nursing the others, one almost fell off the patio table where he/she was climbing... and Olivia jumped up and ran to him/her.

    1. We have 2 fig trees and these last 2 years, they have produced an abundance of figs. We eat what we can and give the rest away. We have a friend who loves to freeze them and use them for his Italian Christmas cookies.

  6. Funny how you think you have nothing to post, but get started and then find a lot to talk about. I enjoyed this post very much. Oh, a mama cat and six little kittens. How sweet. You are so kind to look after so many animals. I am disappointed that our fig tree has no figs this year; then Dan called me while I was in the grocery store the other day and asked, have you looked at the fig tree lately. Well, it is now covered in little figs. Hope they have time to grow and ripen before cold weather.

    1. It's a bit strange... wonder if it's the weather or ? We got a good batch of figs that ripened about a week ago. Now there are quite a few green figs on the tree, but they aren't ripening... strange? Good luck with yours!

  7. Yes you do have interesting things to say! How wonderful, to have made 2 meals, at one time???? That deserves 4 Gold Stars, in my book!!!

And the difference between those 2 like fruits. I never knew such.

And anyway, why do we ever think we have to blog so-called-interesting stuff???? -grin- We are homemakers. We aren't world travelers. We blog about our lives. Which, if we think about it, we don't ever want to be really interesting.

Remember the old curse? "May you live in interesting times." -grin-

Soooo, just let's blog about whatever is on our mind. Or something we had fun doing. Or a book we love... Simple, everyday things. Yessss!!!!!!

    1. Hi! Thanks for visiting! Yes, I guess it's true. We don't want things to get "to interesting". They're way too interesting right now with this pandemic. And I do find it fun to read what simple mundane things other people are doing that bring them a little joy. We are all different - yet, the same. A good book or a good meal can bring a lot of joy!

  8. How delightful that you write letters to your Grand daughter, whom you can not see, during this rotten Wuhan Virus Pandemic. What a JOY!!!!!! This, from your comment on my blog.

And we really have to seek out any and all Joys, at this time.

    To keep cool,
    think Ice Cream!
