I voted!... and an adorable kitten!

Yes, yesterday DH and I voted for this 2020 election! We used the absentee ballots for the first time and instead of mailing them  took them to the secure designated mail-in voting location for our county. It took about 30 minutes to get there as Texas is only allowed one designated voting place for each county. But it was fine... and once there, easy and fast. And we got our "I voted!" stickers!

Really glad to have that over and done. Now whenever political ads are shown on TV, I simply switch to another channel. Already made our choices, so no need to listen to all that - (knowing so much of it isn't fact anyway). We're at the 'what will be - will be' stage now.

And I have to show you a picture of this kitten that I found on Pinterest.  Isn't the most adorable thing?

I mean, really... how could you not want that? I sent this pic to my grand daughter off at college and her first response was, "I need it!".  I had to explain to her that she didn't "need" it, she "wanted it" and there was a difference (she already has 2 kittens).

wall of masks

Our wall of masks is growing. No, I haven't been making any more. But doctor's visits have been supplying them as well as health groups sending some through the mail. The 2 hooks on the left are DH's and the 2 on the right are mine. Grandson has his own supply upstairs.

And we recently sent off for shields. They were relatively inexpensive and work well. They are the type that sit like glasses and help keep my own glasses on (which constantly fall off with just a mask).

Listening to the news this morning sounds like we are going into the 2nd wave of Covid... not surprising since so many refuse to take the measures to protect others.  But each to his own, I can't force you to protect me, but I will do everything in my power to protect my own ... and you! (don't mean to sound altruistic as I think most people feel this way)

Anyway, that's it for today! Hope you have a wonderful (cool and sunny) weekend!  Do Vote - any way you choose - but vote! We create our lives by our choices, so make your choice! (and be accountable)

Hugs,
Rian

  1. We have yet to receive our ballots in the mail. I went to the post office today, since I learned that they were mailed out in our county two days ago. But they were not there yet. Once we receive them and fill them out, we'll take them to the secure drop box in front of City Hall. Congratulations on having it all done. And that kitty: I need it! :-)

    1. Hope you get your ballots soon. And yes, hand delivering them seems a better bet than mailing (although mailing is still an option).

  3. Glad you exercised your right to vote. It's important.

That's quite the collection of masks! I'm with, I'll do whatever I can to keep myself safe, my family safe, and those around me too.

    Take care and stay well!

    1. Our collection of masks has grown from those I originally made to some given to us by family, doctors, and health companies.
Yes, do take care and stay safe. Too soon to let your guard down.

  4. Me too on having voted. It is such a relief. Now we can just tune out all the noise. I think Gov. Christy is a good lesson for us all. He said he was so careful for 7 months, got relaxed and found himself in intensive care with the Covid after just 4 days of carelessness. We can't relax yet or we have wasted all the previous careful months.
    That kitten is adorable.

    1. I agree, Patti. We've been careful for so long... don't want to ruin it now. And it's going to be even harder to do with the holidays coming up.

  6. Just got our ballots yesterday; will bring them in on Monday. Can't want for it all to be over, when hopefully we can all calm down a little bit.

  7. Ha! My granddaughter would NEED that kitten too if she saw it. I never saw anyone as cat crazy as that girl.
    I voted.

    1. Cat crazy is a good thing in my eyes... but one does have to be sensible about it. Good to have the voting done, isn't it?

    1. No, no new kitten for us - not for a while yet anyway - the outside feral kittens are enough for now. And losing Tux, Julie, and Ghost so close together has taken the wind out of our sails...

  9. Sorry! But l'll say this in the nicest
    possible way...
It is 'MOST' unhygienic way to keep face
masks..any Doctor, nurse or medical person
will tell you the same..they should be kept
    individuel sealed in polythene bags...!

    1. Thanks, Willie. I understand completely... and appreciate your concern. Since we are the only ones who go in and out of our house and we don't go anywhere to wear the masks except the doctors and the curb side grocery pick-up (where we don't even open our windows), it seems safe to keep them there (and I do wash them all every week or so). But to be extra safe, I will wash them today and take them down. And I have seen your comments on other blogs I follow... and checked out your site. Thanks again.

    1. You know, Debbie. I don't know what the outcome of this election may be (polls don't seem to be too accurate), but whatever it is, we will hopefully accept it without violence and any more division. I hate that the country seems to be divided between red and blue. Can't we combine and be 'purple' - (silly, but just a thought).
