pussy willows - the legend

My daughter-in-law sent me this a while back and I thought it was so cute... and interesting that I thought I'd share.

********************************

Today is Friday!! (Don't know why that makes a difference to my 'retired' brain, but it does...)

DH and I are planning to check out Home Depot and Lowes today for his Father's Day gift (a pressure sprayer).  We really need to use one on our windows, brick, and back porch. This is how we plan to spend our Memorial Day weekend. Exciting, yes? (actually anything that gets me out of the house these days is exciting)

For those interested, my PT is going fine. I've only had 2 sessions and have found that not long after each session, I'm tired and sore... and end up falling asleep on the sofa. She is trying to strengthen my core (I have no core strength). But my back seems to be behaving itself. I've been told by both the Spinal Specialist and the Physical Therapist that it isn't going to get any better, but... if I keep moving (doing the exercises and walking), I should be able to keep mobile. So this is my goal.

Saturday morning update: We did get to Home Depot and Lowes yesterday and DH got his pressure sprayer. Now...  he needs to check out how to use it...  and then we need to get our mojo's working and tackle the back porch and windows. Hopefully we will do this during this holiday weekend (if the rain doesn't stop us - and next week may be rainy too according to the weatherman.)

I had planned to write a little more, but either blogger or chrome are having problems this morning and my page keeps locking up. So, I'm going to stop here and maybe try again tomorrow.

Wishing you all a happy safe healthy holiday weekend!  Sorry this is so short.

Hugs (virtual),

Rian

  1. Seems that many had trouble with Blogger in these last few days.

    1. I wasn't sure if it was Blogger, Chrome, or Google, but whatever it was kept locking me up and saying "unresponsive"... so I finally gave up.

  3. I love the pussy willow legend! It is one of my favorite plants. So glad your PT is going well. Yes the core is so important. You made me realize I need to work on mine. Thanks. Careful with that new sprayer.

    1. We haven't tried to new sprayer yet... DH assembled it and now reading the instructions. You said to "be careful"... any reason for that comment? Any of your own experience?

  5. I absolutely thought that the legend of the pussy willow was so sweet, and the illustration so cute it made me chuckle.

Our neighbor had a big pussy willow bush in her yard and I remember petting the furry little kittenish buds, and even touching them to my face. I was very young. I would have loved to have heard that legend when I was that little girl. I intend to pass it on to my grand kids and a kitty loving friend of mine. I will be looking for a pussy willow bush for my yard too.

    1. You know, I would like one too... but not sure how well they grow around here. I've never seen one at any of the nurseries. Think I will check that out too.

  8. What a cute story about the pussy willows. Happy to hear that your physio is going well - mobility is so important.

    Enjoy your weekend!

    1. Thanks, Mae. Yes, mobility is extremely important and it's one of the hazards we face in old age. Many of my friends' mobility has been hampered (if not lost) already. I will do what I can to keep moving. Hope you have a great holiday weekend!

  9. I too like the pussy willow story. I too have a pressure sprayer ... but mine has been safely stored away in the garage awaiting this pressure sprayer operator to get motivated. Don't tell my wife, but that may take a while!

    1. Yes, well Tom, we shall see what happens here. It could well be the same story. However, the weather isn't great this week - so there is that excuse.

  10. Rian I liked the pussy willow story too. For the last month I've been hooked on these youtube videos made by the "kitten lady", have you ever heard of her? Very sweet & very, very smart. Animal shelters turn to HER for help. Also, had to laugh at your high pressure sprayer news.. my own sister has one and she absolutely loves it for the outside of their house! Hope your day wasn't filled with rain!

    1. Hi Dug, I checked out a few of the kitten lady videos on you tube. They are interesting and the way she explains how to help is very good. Only problem I can see is that there probably aren't enough people who think like her and are actually able or willing to do what she does. But you are right, she is smart in the way she goes about it.
