Update on my eye drama... and a bit more

speedy???

Checked in with Eye Surgeon by phone Thursday morning. Told him my eye was still bothering me, tearing a lot, blurry, and had a small bump between my eye and nose. It's been 5 weeks since the stent was taken out. He had me come in, irrigated my eye again,  and said that it was open, not plugged - which is good. Thinks the small lump is just where the sutures were. Told me to put steroid drops in 3-4 times a day for one week, then stop... and see him again in 2-3 weeks.

So that's where we are...

Also... I've a short funny story. Recently DH and I changed our "departure plans" (not sure what the right word for this is). Basically it's funeral plans without the 'funeral'.  Anyway, the funny part... which wasn't funny at the time... was that the person we changed the plans with was "ghosting" us (ha ha, no pun intended), I had both called and emailed her with no response for about 2 weeks. All we wanted was for her to send us a copy of the new contracts or new arrangements for our files.

Anyway, I wasn't too worried about it. It's just that on the initial copies that we did have... my name was misspelled and my phone number was incorrect.

But... when I got to thinking about it, why would I care that my name was misspelled when the time came? Also, in that same situation, they certainly wouldn't be calling me...

Anyway, it was resolved, as when I gave up on calling the agent, I just called the main number and was told that that particular agent was no longer with them... and I was given to another person who immediately sent me copies of the contracts. Problem solved.

It is now Saturday morning, March 28th - our grandson who passed away last year would be 19 today... bittersweet thoughts today for a beautiful boy. 💔

And... getting ready to leave for our "NO KINGS" protest this morning. It's chilly, so may have to wear a coat... and will post more about it after we get back home. Sometimes there seems like so little we can do to change our present situation... but I know we can attend a PEACEFUL PROTEST (so far this is still legal) and we can VOTE (so far this too is still legal).

I want so much for AMERICA TO BE KIND AGAIN!

Just back from Protest in our area... HUGE TURNOUT !  Last October there were about 3000 people for that protest, this time looked like 5- 6,000 - not counting all the cars that drove by honking and waving flags.

Apparently our son went to another given in his area and said it was a great turnout there too...

Here are a few pics:

Enough for today... I need to sit down with a cup of tea and be thankful for peaceful protests.

One sign I didn't get a picture of said...

"Are we great yet? Or just embarrassed?"

Hugs (virtual),

Rian

  1. Thanks for the eye update Rian... we'll be very glad when that is truly better. Your "departure story" made me smile, but still gave a shiver down my spine...my friend Diana and I were just talking about this. Making and paying for arrangements in advance.... we both live alone and aren't getting any younger. But you gave it a nice spin :^) Finally, loved your photos of your No Kings protest! Gosh that just looked wonderful! Good for you and DH!! :^)

    1. Dug, the No Kings Protests make me feel like maybe, ... just maybe, we can get out country back. America has always been known for freedom and equality - the chance to live a better life. Hate and hurting people will never make a country great. Peaceful protests are possibly our best chance to let the world know that many many of us don't like what's happening.

  2. Personally I am just embararssed! Thank you for standing up today! What a big group! I was in a small but mighty gathering of 47 people in a small town near me that never hosted a protest before. I was so proud of everyone who came out.
I'm glad you got the eye checked. I bet you are thrilled with more eye drops. I am on the fourth week of drops for my left eye and start the presurgery drops for the right eye tomorrow. I hope yours heal quickly!!

    1. I'm embarrassed too, Miss Merry. I want to tell the world how sorry I am that America has come to this... and that many many Americans don't want want is happening to our country - and hope we can turn it around. And I hope that your next cataract surgery goes well.

  3. Sounds like your eye isn't taking the easiest path for recovery. Steroids should help it feel better.
Your "exit" plans were interesting. Might want to make sure your name is spelled correctly. It only takes one person to make it incorrect on all those papers that flutter along your path to the exit gate. I've seen incorrect dates and birth locations on death certificates on people I knew, or was married to! Glad you got a new escort that at least has a correct number now to check on you! 1. Linda, it's true my eye doesn't seem to want to feel normal again... but the steroids do help... (if only for a week). As for my exit plans, I think they've corrected the mistakes somewhere... just not on my paperwork. I was told that at the time needed, the correct spelling and phone number would be there (really pretty sure they won't be calling me anyway).

  4. Good to hear eye is ok...though frequent drops may be a bother. Thanks for being part of No Kings. It certainly looks as if it was a great tribute to democracy.

    1. Barbara, it was a tribute to democracy... and I was proud to be a part of it. I don't want my grandchildren to think I was silent. It's a small thing to do, but at least it's something.

  5. I do hope the eye drops will clear up your issues. Good luck!
Anniversaries are always hard, may you find solace in your memories of your grandson.
Well done, on attending the No Kings protest in your area. According to various news sources there were close to 8 million people attending these 3300+ events. If that doesn't get the current administration to take notice, nothing will.

    1. Thanks, Mae. The eye drops do help, but only using them for one week. Hope my eye does well after the week is up. As for the NO KINGS rally or protest - hope it does some good.

  6. Yup. We did our departure plans too. :-) And I'm glad that's done. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your eye difficulties. I have to worry about macular degeneration. Sigh... And gosh... I'm so sorry for your loss with your grandson. 19.... sigh... That's my granddaughter's age.
And you went to the No Kings day rally! That is so awesome! I really need to make a sign.

    1. Yes, Kay, we need to make a sign. I didn't have one... just waved a flag. But next time I will make a sign.
