Rabbit Rabbit! White Rabbit! |
Yes, I did remember the Rabbit! Rabbit!... just didn't get to post this until this afternoon. We went out to breakfast this morning! Well, maybe it wasn't breakfast since it was 10:30 or 11:00... early lunch??
The reason we went was that we have been wanting to check out this place that was recommended to us a while back. Well, it was well worth its recommendation! This is what we had:
My BELT - Bacon, Egg, Lettuce, Tomato on Gluten free toast |
DH's Southern Benedict - sausage on a biscuit with an egg, and white gravy |
Everything was very good... even the coffee (and the grits!) DH would have normally gotten hashbrowns with his Eggs Benedict, but he ordered the grits so I could try them. (I have this subconscious thing about judging a place by it's coffee and it's grits). Anyway, the place passed with flying colors.
This may be a hodge-podge post with lots of unrelated pictures, but life seems to be this way lately... a bit erratic. These next pics were sent to us by DH's brother in Houston. They have 2 beautiful Night Blooming Cereus... and they just bloomed a few days ago. This is what they look like.
And they give off the most heavenly aroma! But... they only live a few hours and then the flowers close up and die. An amazing plant!
Oh, and this next pic is a succulent that was on display at our mall. They didn't have a name posted and we were wondering what it was?
Anyone know?
And then I saw this on Facebook and had never seen this Orchid mandis before. I've seen many live green preying mandis' - but this was unbelievable.
Isn't this something? |
Well, enough of my ramblings, I'll leave you with a few posters that I like...
Thank you! |
(And do still be cautious - although things seem to be better, a neighbor of ours just recently lost her husband to Covid.)
Hugs (virtual),
Rian
Ha ha, I finally actually remembered to say white rabbit this morning! What an incredible breakfast! - Jenn
ReplyDeleteIt really was good, Jenn. We're not big breakfast eaters, but occasionally, it's pretty nice.
DeleteThat orchid mantis is quite something. And something I would love to see. The night flowering blooms often do have a wonderful scent - encouragement for the pollinators?
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day (and month).
Thanks, EC. That Orchid mantis is something. Just proves how amazing nature can be.
DeleteI'm not a big flower person, but your brunch sure looked tasty! (That's what you'd call a late breakfast early lunch, right?) I think I want to duplicate that sandwich :^)~ Loved your Peanuts memes too Rian... Hope you have a nice Labor Day weekend :^)
ReplyDeleteMy sandwich was so-oo good. I hadn't had a BLT in ages and it was great... the bacon nice and crisp and the egg cooked just right. And I was a little worried about the GF toast as some GF products aren't that good. But this toast was fine.
DeleteIt sure does look good! I would love to eat there, but it's a bit of a trek from here to there. Thank you for the fabulous picture of the praying mantis! What a gorgeous creature!
ReplyDeleteThat orchard mantis is something else... noticed I spelled it mandis instead of mantis... oh, well.
DeleteI would trade my beloved egg benedict for a southern benedict any day! The night blooming cereus are stunning, as is your new mantis. White rabbit to you and a happy labor day weekend.
ReplyDeleteJoanne, they had several versions of eggs benedict to choose from, but DH really liked the Southern version he chose.
DeleteThat orchid mantis is something else. Sometimes it is hard to believe nature actually is so creative with coloring. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI know. Nature is amazing.
DeleteI was up at midnight and said white rabbit. Does that count? I was completely convinced today was Friday. I was completely crushed to find out it is Thursday.
ReplyDeleteSure it counts! And it's true that once you're retired, it's not unusual not to know what day it is...
DeleteHum, a BLT is my go to sandwich but now I want to try a BELT. Looks good. Thanks for the night blooming Cereus picture. Never have caught one in the act. That Orchid Mantis is really unusual and quite pretty. Looks like jewelry.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Patti. I have 3 favorite sandwiches, PB & J, grilled cheese, and BLT (now BELT too).
DeleteMmm, such a yummy brunch! (We would call that brunch here, at that time of day between breakfast and lunch.)
ReplyDeleteI remembered to say "white rabbit" too, though not till I was up and downstairs and getting coffee. :-P
Happy September!
Happy September to you also, Kim!
DeleteHappy September! I did not remember to say White Rabbit - oh well, maybe next time.
ReplyDeleteThe sandwich looks delicious (as do the fries), and that orchid mantis is incredible. Sorry I can't help you with the name of the succulent, but it looks like a bowlful of mini cactus (cacti?) :)
Happy September Mae! They are definitely mini cacti - just have never seen these little furry things potted like that. Just wondered if they had a special name.
DeleteThat food looks so delicious! Such unusual plants...both of them. But, the night blooming flower is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe night blooming cereus is something else... it's not a good looking plant, but it makes an amazing bloom.
Deletebreakfast looks wonderful, really good. we had a late lunch out yesterday, after my pedicure and i had eggs benedict with pork roll for my meal, with hash browns, it was awesome. a new to us restaurant!!
ReplyDeletethe orchid mantis is out of this world amazing!!
we are still hearing of covid deaths here in new jersey!!
"we are still hearing of covid deaths here in new jersey!!" ... yes, here too.
Deleteas to the dog walker on my post...i have no idea why he is dressed the way that he is?? the hubs and i thought the same thing!! by the time we passed him it was very warm out. he was nice, seemed normal...i spoke with him but boy was it hot out!! my only thought, maybe he tries to cover his skin!!
ReplyDeleteIt did look odd...?
DeleteThat is an incredible lunch and a whole lot of French fries. Or is it sweet potato fries. Yum! The night blooming cereus is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteKay, I do like sweet potato fries, but these were regular French fries - but the best French fries I've ever had.
