Strange dreams...

I had a strange dream last night.  My mom, sister, and brother were in it. They are all deceased and have been for quite a while.  And these dreams are not repeats of past events, but totally new scenarios where they each play a part. Sometimes I realize during the dream that they have passed, sometimes I don't.  Funny thing is that it really doesn't matter. I awake happy for the 'visit'.

Dreams are a mystery to me.  Sometimes they comfort (like these I just mentioned), sometimes they worry you, and sometimes they actually solve a dilemma.  When I was younger I used to have what might be called 'lucid' dreams.  I not only knew I was dreaming, but could kind of direct them and continue them the next night.  Haven't been able to do that in a long time...

I have also had episodes of 'dream travel'.... where you feel like you leave your body and your mind or spirit travels to another place (another geological place).  It's awesome.  The feeling of freedom is amazing (similar to dreams of flying).  This hasn't happened lately (maybe 3 times in my 67 years).  And I don't really care if what is happening is real or all a dream, it's still awesome!

Now that you all consider me a crazy person, I will close this post. Have a great day... and Happy Dreams!!

  1. I have had dreams of my parents and my son (who are all on the other side) that were as real as if we were together again. They are very comforting. I once tried to become a "lucid dreamer" but was unsuccessful.

    1. Were you aware that you were dreaming at the time? Sometimes I'm not aware at first, then as the dream continues, I realize that somethings not right... but I don't care, and cherish the time together even more.

  2. We should all pay more attention to our dreams. I think I've read, they are messages, from our inner self, to our *outer* self.

And certainly, our own self, should have lots to tell us.

    1. I agree. Our 'inner self' has a hard time being heard in the real world.

  3. I read that without dreams we couldn't live a logical life; that dreams help us to make sense of all the history we pile up; that dreams may reveal our hidden fears and hidden hopes too.

    1. Rosaria, I have had dreams that have cleared up things that have puzzled me in the past. And occasionally repetitious dreams... same unknown place?

  4. Dreams are fascinating as they evolve through life. My dreams now have been changed by prescription drugs. In fact, I remember more of them.

    1. I can imagine that on Rx drugs, you could have some interesting dreams.

  5. I'd have loved to dream travel, but never have. Once in a while I'll dream I'm "flying," just skimming above the ground or running so that I'm almost flying and that's fun.

Last night, actually just before I woke up, I dreamed I was back in the ladies clothing store I worked at for 6 years in my early 20s. (Pretty much my worst work experience.) I seldom dream about being back there, usually only when work stresses me. But last night, in my dream, I had a gay couple, in evening gowns, come in looking for new evening gowns for a function the following night. Of course they left it to the last minute and we didn't have anything. I had to refer them to a couple of other stores and wish them good luck. I woke up chuckling, with never happens in dreams, so I thought that was pretty cool. :-)

    1. Isn't dreaming of 'flying' wonderful? Sometimes I can just breathe in and lift off the ground... in my dreams of course.

  6. Sometimes I wake up wanting to know what a dream means, and sometimes I don't want to know.
I have had the experience of dream travel two or three times in my life.

  7. I don't think you are a 'crazy' person and I like to be 'visited' by my mother in my dreams. Always a comfort.
I realize just reading your post that I haven't had many dreams in a while...that's something worth thinking about...

    1. If you haven't had many dreams in a while... maybe you're content? No worries, no anxieties for the moment.

    1. I do think dreams play an important part in our lives. And perhaps, just as in many other ways, some people are more 'open' to them.

  10. Dear Crazy Lady....noooo....just kidding.
For some reason, I have stopped dreaming...I used to dream most every night but the last few years, notta. Now, Mr. Sweet says I probably DO dream, just don't remember them. *heavy sigh
"gettin' old sure ain't for sissies".
Sweet might have a problem with something he is building and can't figure out the solution to a problem...goes to sleep, has a dream about it and wakes up the next morning with the fix. Our son just can't get over it. It happens all the time.

    1. bj, Mr. Sweet may be right... about you dreaming, but not remembering. And I imagine that since so many people have trouble sleeping when they get older that 'dreaming' or 'not dreaming' is probably not an important issue.
