tea and snickerdoodles |
Father's Day is this weekend and although I've not been up to making any big family dinners these days, I thought I'd get some of DH's favorites from Central Market and see if the kids want to come over Sunday afternoon or evening.
When I mentioned this to Ghost (who doesn't care for company), this was her opinion.
"oh god..." |
She will make herself scarce. But that's OK. Molly will be glad to give anyone and everyone a chance to pet her. And if they don't *choose* to, she will climb in their lap anyway.
coming up... |
Now the next pics I took as DH and I headed out of the house to Braums to get a hot fudge sundae. We don't do this often, but since Father's Day is around the corner, we decided it was an excellent idea.
See the sunflowers? Actually there are about 5 or 6... all *gifts* from the bird feeder overhead! And if you look real close... you can see our squirrel's little butt in the feeder... |

I love your post today. What a love Molly is! It's amazing she's in such good health, given her advanced years. Good genes and lots of TLC. :-)
ReplyDeleteI can just make out the squirrel's butt in the feeder. Nice to see those sunflowers, btw. They don't bloom here till August, usually later in the month.
That sundae looks scrumptious! I've not had any sweets (chocolate, cake, cookies, etc.) in 6.5 weeks, but that really could tempt me.
Thanks, Kim. Molly is a sweetheart. As for the squirrel's butt, I didn't even notice him as I was concentrating on the sunflowers. DH told me he was there after I took the pic. It's odd about sunflowers. I can plant them and they don't grow, but let them fall out of the bird feeder and they shoot right up!
DeleteAnd the sundae was good... small, but just enough.
Summers are short. You have to celebrate them whenever you can and what better way than with ice cream?
ReplyDeleteWell, Olga, since the problems with Blue Bell, we have turned to Braum's...
DeleteHot fudge too, eh? Snickerdoodles not enough? Well, I would have gone with you in a heartbeat.
ReplyDeleteI know, Joanne. But the snickerdoodles will last for a while. We only have 1 or 2 with tea or coffee in the afternoon. And the sundae was actually a bribe. I had to go to a certain store to pick up a few things and I knew that if I added Braum's to the mix, DH would come with me...
DeleteThat face on Ghost...so funny. That will be Audrey when she`s a `mature` princess. The sunflowers look great and we, too, have some that were not planted by us. They are at the well and look ridiculous but the retired-guy wants them to stay. lol
ReplyDeleteI love the sunflowers. Since the birds and squirrels keep scattering the seeds in the bird feeder, I'm hoping we'll have a continuous growth there for the summer. And yesterday, I saw a black swallowtail butterfly flying around. Not sure if they like sunflowers, but he/she was hanging around the area...
Deletewhat a peaceful scene your tea photo is; how large your sunflowers are, mine are just three inches tall in pots, got to get them planted.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. As for the sunflowers, I don't know what variety they are.... since the seeds were mixed with the birdseed... but I know some varieties are *giant*.
DeleteYum! Cookies and ice cream!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Sasha is much like your ghost, and Sami is more like Molly...we call her the Walmart greeter. :)
Enjoy your Father's Day weekend!
Eileen, we do try to avoid too much sweets. I know it doesn't look like it, but one or two cookies a day and ice-cream once or twice a week seems OK to me. DH would have it daily if he could.
DeleteI can't decide which I want more...the snickerdoodle or the ice-cream!
ReplyDeleteHave both! Actually this was the first time I've ever made Snickerdoodles... the recipe came on the back of some King Arthur flour cinnamon sugar mix... so I thought I'd try it. It was quite good.
DeleteSounds like a perfect reason to have a hot fudge sundae to me! I love them but don't indulge more than once a year. Ghost doesn't look very happy. :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan, that's kind of what I do with Dove dark chocolate ice-cream bars. Love them, but only allow myself to indulge once or twice in the summer....
DeleteAs for Ghost, she doesn't really have a *happy* face... not even when she's happy.
That's a nice photo of the sunflower and "Squirrel Feeder".
