"Are you anxious about anything"
NOW THAT'S A QUESTION THESE DAYS?"
"Only with the state of the world:
global pandemic,
hateful politics,
states on fire,
back to back hurricanes,
lost my cat..."
So I answer: "not especially".
This was one of the many questions asked me during my doctor appointment yesterday. Lucky me! I got to see both the nurse practitioner as well as our family physician. She (NP) asked him to come in after the exam, EKG, blood work, etc. And they agreed to give me a Rx to take at night to keep my bp and heart rate from spiking. And they also want me to be tested for sleep apnea.
So now we wait to see what the tests show. Guess they will take a week or so...
Told them that I wouldn't go to the ER last Friday when all this started because I didn't think I was having a heart attack. (Luckily I was right) However I did tell DH that if I passed out at home, he could call 911.
Something strange is going on and it does involve my heart and bp, so it is scary. I don't want a repeat of these last 4 days.
It's Tuesday noon now and DH just went to pick up the Rx (it had to be ordered). Not feeling great this am... weak and a bit headachy... but no spike during the night last night so I was able to sleep.
Drinking a little black Irish tea - in case I'm headachy missing the caffeine.
My EKG is always a bit strange and was again yesterday, but has been that way for years and was checked out by a Cardiologist about 5 years ago. At that time he said my heart was fine. But now if this Rx and/or sleep apnea test doesn't give results, they may send me back to a Cardiologist. Guess we'll see.
Oh, the fun and games of aging...
I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will all turn out all right for you. I'm glad you have good doctors who care about you. At least they seem to, from what I can glean. And anybody who isn't anxious these days just isn't paying attention!
ReplyDeleteThanks, DJan. Whatever is going on with me is strange to say the least... and does have me worried. I just thought that question about being anxious was kind of funny with all that's going on.
DeleteThe world is a scary place right now. I hope you feel better and your health is fine.
ReplyDeleteThanks, John.
DeleteSending you positive healing energy and keeping my fingers crossed that whatever it is can be easily remedied.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim. Will try to keep this updated.
DeleteHope the tests show that the weird feeling is nothing serious ... maybe you are a little anxious, after all, and just don't know it.
ReplyDeleteTom, I know everyone must be a little anxious these days... just don't think I'm overly so.
DeleteI am thinking anyone who is not anxious is just not paying attention.
ReplyDeleteTrue, Olga.
DeleteI am glad you are getting thorough exams. Sending you prayers and positive thoughts. Let us know.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Patti. Tests and testing should show something. Started my nighttime hypertension pill last night. Makes me feel a bit weird, but slept through most of the night.
DeleteGood grief, you don't need this. I do hope those doctors ordered enough tests to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteThey did order tests. The night time pill to keep my bp from rising worked last night... made me feel a bit odd, but no increase in bp . I'm holding off on the sleep apnea test until I adjust to this nightly pill.
Deleteit comes in waves doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteam so sorry to hear you lost ghost too, such a sweet cat & now to have health issues on top; possibly caused by all the stress
have you been tested for vitamin Bs? sometimes when it's low will cause massive headaches & a few other symptoms, just a thought, you never know; my body doesn't hold Vit B & i have to make sure i have some every couple of days (mushrooms i find seem to keep it in check plus other vegies,)
good luck with your tests
thanx for sharing
Thanks, Selina. I do take Vit D3 - that result should be on a test eventually. Mine is usually low. Don't know about B. I'm not one to take Vitamins - believe I eat well enough.
DeleteMy Dad always said that getting old wasn't for sissies. I hope that the tests provide some answers and that any issues can be resolved quickly. Take care and stay well!
ReplyDeleteHi Mae. Yes, getting old is not as easy as it looks. But I've been lucky so far.
Deleteso sorry for all you are going through; had similar years ago and still do, they wanted me to test for sleep apnea but required me to be hospitalized over night for tests and I didn't have the money or deductible to avail myself of those tests. So here I sit, so far, so good, hang in there.
ReplyDeleteYes, Linda, it does require you to stay overnight. I've often suspected sleep apnea, but have gotten by with it (if thats what it is) all these years. But if this is it, it's gotten bad enough to scare me. However, I won't do the testing until I've gotten used to this new night time medication to keep my bp in check.
DeleteI hope your doctor can give you a definitive answer but if you feel any symptoms, take no chances and go to the doctor or ER.
ReplyDeleteNothing definitive, gave me Rx for lowing night bp - which seems to work. But still feeling strange sometimes, like light headed (not a lot - just off), and weak. Bp remaining fairly low (107/67 this am - so guess this is good.
DeleteRegarding the puzzles, I really can't recall exactly where I purchased individual puzzles (sorry). we've been buying them when we could since March when the stay at home order took over. I CAN say our puzzles have been purchased at Walmart, Amazon, and our local chain grocery store. I will also have another post this weekend (if the new blogger cooperates) of another place we order from for puzzles. This company has ALL KINDS of puzzles & wiil send you a free catalog.
ReplyDeleteNo problem, Anni. We've bought from Barnes and Noble and ordered from Ravensburger before, just wondered who made those I was interested in.
DeleteDear Rian, so worrisome to live with this not knowing that's happening in your life. thank you for sharing your concerns with us. I'm visualizing--right now--the healing white light of Oneness surrounding you and oozing into your pores down into your heart and coating them not only with healing light but with the honey of surety that you are dear to so many of us . . . and to so many cats! Take care of yourself and let us know, please, how this proceeds. Peace.
ReplyDeleteThat's true, Dee. You know 'something' is going on, but not what or why. Thanks for the visualization. I'm afraid that I haven't been keeping up with reading blogs, may have to catch up later.
