she does love cats...

Grand daughter and Ceramic Cat

Grand daughter and Tux

First of all, I have to explain to you that Grand daughter is 13 months old and loves cats (wonder how that happened?).  But she is learning to be 'gentle' with them.  We tell her to pat them gently and they won't run away.  Tux is a really good cat.  As you can see, he doesn't respond negatively (except for that face that says it all) to rough treatment. You might even think that he was just lying on her lap except for the angle of that back leg which explains how he was lying quietly on the rug when she decided quite abruptly that her lap would be better (she had a good fist-full of cat in those 2 little hands).   In her defense, she did lean over and kiss his head right after I snapped this pic. And Tux was well rewarded with praise and treats for his patience and good behavior.

Well, it's Sunday morning and the day of the Big Game (SuperBowl).  We don't party at our house, but my son and grandson are coming over this afternoon to watch with us.  I am interested, but don't generally sit down and watch.  Spend most of my time either in the kitchen fixing snacks or in the den (half watching/half knitting or crocheting). So far it looks like it's going to be one of those gloomy overcast cold days with rain off and on throughout the day...  (good day for a fire in the old fireplace to warm up the room and make Tux happy).

If you haven't noticed previously, our cats love my fisherman's afghan that my friend made for me years ago. I love it too, but have to fight for it since the cats always seem to have dibs.  Here is a pic I took last night when I went to sit on the sofa and get cozy with my afghan.

hey, guys.... it's my afghan!

Close up of Ghost's eyes says it all...

Well, Have a great Sunday and Enjoy the game!

  1. LOL. Poor Tux! He's wonderfully patient, certainly I can't picture my boys tolerating a young child--they've had no exposure to children, really, except for the "demon spawn" next door.

As for the afghan...C'mon, you KNOW it's NOT yours! :-p

    1. Tux IS a patient cat. He is the only male cat left in a house of females. And yes, I do know that the afghan is not mine... or at least not mine if they get to it first.

  2. What a good guy that Tux is. I don't think any of them here can tolerate too much from young hands but if any my bets would be on Annie. Cute photos. She is a little sweetheart. The photos on the couch look like my home. Enjoy the game and do tell us what you are knitting. Deb

    1. I'm knitting those wide headbands for my grand daughter who lives in San Antonio. I crochet one for her a while back and found that the crochet stitch doesn't stretch as well as knit.... so I put a button the the crochet one. These knitted ones stretch just fine so she can pull them over her head. They are the wide kind that cover your ears in winter.

  3. What a good kitty! And gosh I wonder why she loves cats so much? Is it genetic? :-)

    1. Must be... Other grand daughter in San Antonio also inherited my love for critters. If her mom would let her, their house would be full of them (or fuller than it is now).

  4. Your grand daughter loves cats? Did she have a choice? I think it is called DNA. She is a cutie for sure and Tux is a good old cat.

    1. She absolutely loves them. She has 2 at her house and they tolerate her sitting on them and loving them quite well.

    1. That's why cats make such great greeting cards. You can tell what they're thinking by those expressions.

  6. Our Claude wouldn't be so tolerant either. In fact he disappears to the neighbours yard if he sees anyone he's not sure of, and comes home when they're gone. Great photos, especially the 'eyes'.

    1. Ghost takes off also when people other than DH and I are around. Another good reason for her name... most people have never seen her.

  7. Your granddaughter is beautiful! With all those cats, it is fortunate that she likes them.

    1. It is strange in some ways. One of my grandsons was never interested in them when he was young. The cats were always around... but he simply ignored them. This child gets so excited and runs to them when she sees them.

  11. Tux is one patient and tolerant cat. Mind you, he's probably in love with your gorgeous granddaughter. :-) Looking at the tangle of cats on your sofa, I wonder where you find space to sit.... ;-)

    1. Finding space to sit is sometimes a problem. DH and I will go into the den and Ghost has his chair and the other 4 are spread out across the sofa...
