My pottery projects this semester consist of baking dishes and more clay critters...
chickens |
resting doggie |
sleeping fox |
I've done these critters at home. That's why I can take photos and post them. The baking dishes are at the studio. But I will eventually get some pics of them also... that is, if they survive the kiln.
And of course I need to say Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!
Have a wonderful Sunday!
You have an excellent eye and good fingers for capturing your sculpted animals.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun, Joanne. I like to see if I can capture the comfy pose or at least the gist of it.
DeleteI love all your critters, I think they're amazing! You could have an Etsy shop...but then it would become work and maybe take away some of the fun.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Kim. I think that I fear losing my enjoyment of it if it became work (I feel the same about the stories I write). For now I like to give my stuff away... but since neither of us is working any longer, it would be nice to have some income coming in.
Deletelove the sculpted animals, are they hollow or solid. I've always wanted to try paper clay but never have, one of these days, can't wait to see the finished pieces.
ReplyDeleteLinda, they are solid, but I hollow out a hole in the center before the clay becomes hard. They are small, so I've had no trouble with the firing. And I do like the paper clay for this... doesn't seem to dry as quickly while you're working with it and seems a bit more flexible.
DeleteI like your doggie especially. Happy Valentine's Day back to you. :-)
ReplyDeleteDJan, I have a dear friend who loves the doggies too. She has the last 2 I finished.
DeleteThese are all delightful. I really like the cheery chickens. There is no mistaking that you are in tune with animals, it shows in your work. You have a talent in this expression.
ReplyDeleteThe chickens sit on the warming plate of my Aga. I have a few little *pie birds* that I bought years ago that sit there too. It's like my own little chicken farm.
