Texas is Hot these days. I think Arizona is worse (can't imagine). I looked up Phoenix, Arizona to see how they were doing and it said, it would be 111 F sometime today. I think Big Bend reached 119 F in June.
Keeping with that thought, both our son and our AC went out last week. It doesn't take long for a house to heat up. Luckily we both were able to get it fixed the same day...
Also we were planning on having DH's brother and wife visit last week. They usually come up and spend a week with us during the summer and we go to Ham's Peach Orchard, Frog's Coffee Bar and Creperie, Valentino's Italian restaurant, etc. - a week of catching up and eating out! But my 'issues' stopped that... and I felt awful about disappointing everyone, but it couldn't be helped. Still waiting on bloodwork (appt to discuss it Tuesday).
But on a good note, daughter and her family spent last week up in Colorado... hiking in 70 degree weather in an absolutely beautiful environment. They had a wonderful time and sent gorgeous pics:
and I will leave you today with a funny... ; )
Keep cool! (and DH bought dark chocolate dove bars this week!!)
Hugs (virtual),
Rian
(and I have a weird/sad story to tell
- but will keep it for another time)
ooooh sharon, those temperatures are so hot, i don't think our a/c could even keep up (keep our house cool)!! i too know how difficult it can be to have to cancel a much anticipated visit or event, it is such a disappointment for everyone involved!! i see my post for today was perfect for you!!
ReplyDeletegorgeous images of the waterfalls, i'm sure your daughter is having an amazing time. the temperatures have been better here, a little bit cooler!!
the meme is so funny, it's what i told my doctor. we talked about me loosing weight, and that i should stop eating carbs. i told her that is the last thing i really enjoy, i don't really care if i am fat!!!
The A/C has a hard time. It seldom goes down past 78. And about the meme, I agree... I'm not supposed to have coffee or chocolate (among other things)... but will cut down on both, but NOT give up entirely. Loved your Sunday post!
Deletei hope you are feeling a little better. i would have a really hard time with the house being 78!!
DeleteGoodness, that much heat would do me in. I'm glad you were able to get your a/c repaired quickly.
ReplyDeleteThe photos from Colorado are stunning!
Yes, it is panic time when the A/C goes out in July or August (people die!). So, yes, we were very lucky to have someone come out so quickly. The A/C service people are swamped.
DeleteI can't imagine dealing with that level of heat. I do hope you will have good news on Tuesday, and thank you for the funny. I don't look forward to the sad story but am glad you will share it with me, who cares very much about your entire local universe. :-}
ReplyDeleteI hope I get 'some' news on Tuesday. I hate it when they run tests and there's no definite find. Dr. suspected CHF, but don't think bloodwork confirmed this. Something is going on and I just wish I knew what.
DeleteThe weird/sad story will be told eventually. I'm hoping that it turns out better than it seems to be going.
Those temperatures are HORRID. I hope you get some relief soon. Thank you for sharing some of your daughter and her family's trip in gorgeous countryside.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the tests. I am hoping for some answers to my medical issues on Friday - but suspect that more tests will be ordered instead.
Thanks, EC. Good luck with your test results. Seems like they always need 'more' tests.
Delete70F is perfect, your temps not so much! I'm not sure if my ac could keep up with heat like that either. I'm glad yours was fixed on the same day.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your test results and follow up appointment. BTW, my dad, who has had heart issues for years and under good care, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in February. He's in excellent health otherwise and it's being well treated with his meds. It took a while, but he feels better now than he has in years. So IF you also have this diagnosis, I know it can be well managed for years to come. Sending you lots of positive energy and thoughts!
Thanks for the info, Kim. I think CHF sounds worse than it is... at least in many cases. I just want to know what is causing these episodes. The symptoms seem like CHF, but can't seem to pin it down. I end up thinking... just another old age thing.
DeleteI'm thankful our hundred degree days lasted but a week.
ReplyDeleteYes, it's always good to see the end of it...
DeleteRian i'm glad you got your AC fixed--mine went out last week too, when it was 90F (and they didn't get here until the next day). But I've seen Texas plenty on the news and I thought a lot about you! Anyway, I love the Colorado photos of your daughter's adventure--beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dug, sorry they didn't get to your A/C sooner, but at least it got fixed. And yes, our daughter (and hubby and granddaughter) had a great trip. I remember years ago when they were living in Colorado and we went up to Grand with them. Here in Texas it was in the triple digits and there it was 50 F. It felt so wonderful. I never forgot that.
Deleter.m.drake had a good thought there. Always best to try to keep things in perspective----not alway easy.
ReplyDeleteThe Colorado pics are gorgeous and what wonderful weather they had considering all the miserable weather going around this summer.
Hope your appointment goes well and something can be done to temper you symptoms.
I'm in Denton and it was 111. And my car air needed repairs. Usually I hit the pool daily but not this year.
ReplyDeleteHi Barb, just read your comment and went to your Blog to check it out. Tahoe looked wonderful. Love the bear! And I agree with you on not needing to constantly be bombarded with bad news... stopped watching for a while now. But someone usually informs me eventually. Still it's better than hearing it over and over.
