We don't do a lot for Halloween. We do put out a pumpkin or pumpkins out front and a few crows... and I make bat and pumpkin cookies for our granddaughter and the twin girls next door. But that's about it. (On occasion I have made a custard pumpkin pie... but not this year)
Here's a pic of my bat cookies... same as last year, same as every year!
and our pumpkin(s) out front:
and...
Happy Halloween. As I expected it was pretty much a non event here, despite the efforts of the big stores to get us on board.
ReplyDeleteSome people really go all out. My daughter-in- law does a Halloween Spread - table full of scary food and weird snacks - and some decorate their whole front lawns!
DeleteThis is fun! Your cookies look delicious. My grandkids are overseas so I don't get to give them any treats and I live in a community with mostly retired people, but I've got some treats for their grandkids ready if they show up.
ReplyDeleteThere are more young kids in our neighborhood lately... not grandkids. But our neighborhood is mostly retired... or was. Lately we're getting younger families move in. It's kind of nice seeing kids around again.
DeleteHappy Halloween!! When I saw your Tom and Jerry, I thought you finally were able to attract some crows. :) You are such a good cookie maker. Those look delicious, and pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh, but Henny, we have been able to attract crows! We get at least one or two every day out front. Large numbers occasionally fly over, and once we had about 6. So yes, they do know I put peanuts, apple skins, etc. out for them.
DeleteHappy Halloween to you, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd you, Joanne. I'll bet your Senior Living had a Halloween party!
DeleteHappy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteWe're in a new to us neighbourhood and we've just had a few kids thus far. I'm hoping a lot more show up because I bought enough for at least 50 kids. Yikes!
Mae, we used to get tons of kids when we first moved here almost 40 years ago. Now most have grown and gone. Then the pandemic came and shut things down. But we're seeing some young couples move in recently - so there could be more trick or treaters in the future.
DeleteRian, I very much enjoyed your Halloween photos (and those cool bat cookies), thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dug. We brought our cookies next door to the twins, then shut off the front porch lights, and watched TV. Not many trick-or-treaters these days. And again - Happy Happy Birthday to you!!
DeleteThose cookies sure look good, even in bat form. Love your smiling pumpkin!
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween DJan!
Deletei enjoyed this post even though halloween is over. your cookies look amazing!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debbie. Grandkids really like the cookies (DH too!).
