strange things...

Happy Easter 2020!

Yesterday I was looking for an Easter Bunny to add to my post... and came across this one that was sitting in the cabinet with an old ceramic chess set I'd made years ago. If you can't tell, the king is the dog, the cat is the queen, rats, bunnies, and snakes take the place of the other pieces. Birds are the pawns. It's unusual, but I enjoyed making it. It was one of our projects a few years back.

Hope you all had a fairly - if not happy... but healthy safe quiet Easter. So strange... no kids, no candy, no church services, etc! But we did text, talk, or Skype with everyone. Youngest grand daughter showed me her Easter basket and goodies on the screen... and son said there were probably still Easter eggs hidden around the house.

DH and I had a rather strange thing happen. We both became very dizzy Sunday afternoon. It was right after I had taken out a pork roast from the oven and he was slicing it up for dinner later. We both tasted it, and deemed it good. Then later (maybe 30 mins or so later) I had one of my ocular migraines (affects only my eyes for about 10-15 minutes), then dizzy (the dizziness was new). DH told me later that he was dizzy too???

We couldn't figure out why we would both be dizzy - checked our CO2 gadget, it was OK. Decided the only thing we both had in common was tasting the roast... seemed a bit bazaar, but ditched it anyway. I was dizzy all night. Better today.

Listened to news at 11am today. And daughter in law that works in the Infectious Disease Area at the local hospital sent us this:

Texas numbers update

and I will close with  a 2020 Easter basket (what we could find around the house) and Ghost... enjoying her quiet Easter on DH's chair :

And to all of you out there - please stay home and stay safe!

Hugs,
Rian

  1. never heard of getting dizzy from eating, have you checked all your drains (sink, tub or shower, or utility rooms, etc. )in any bathrooms you don't use? methane gas can build up and give a headache, which happened in the tub in our upper bathroom, the water had evaporated and was letting the gas in the house. your chess set is amazing, be well

    1. Thanks, Linda. We will check that out. We do get a strange smell from the sink sometimes. I always pour bleach down it, but it comes back. But that is a possibility.
Thanks about the chess set. It was fun to make.

  2. I just read about a pork processing plant closing because of all the virus transmissions. I wonder what the heck might have happened to that roast. I'm glad you threw it out. And I do love seeing Ghost looking a little rabbity. :-)

    1. We have no idea if it was the roast, but it's all we could think of... since we had just both tasted it before we felt dizzy. Linda's previous comment makes sense too.
And poor Ghost - she just wants to sleep and not be disturbed.

    1. I have no idea... possibly... and we hadn’t eaten but a bite as he was slicing it.

  4. Goodness, I wonder what caused the dizziness? I hope it was the meat otherwise I'd be afraid it might happen again. Ghost makes a very cute bunnie!

    Take care and stay well.

    1. We’re still not sure. DH has been fine, but I’ve been a bit dizzy off and on since.

  5. Love your chess set. How original.
My that was strange and a bit scary. Hope you can track down the cause. I can get dizzy if I am dehydrated and sipping a large glass of water will put me right but doubt you would both be at the same time. I'm thinking along the lines of Linda that it was something you breathed and maybe coming from a drain. Hope you find the cause.

    1. I thought of dehydration and have been drinking water. We also put bleach down our drains in both bathrooms (thinking of the methane gas). DH seems fine. I'm still a little dizzy - especially when getting up after lying down.

  6. That’s really strange. Dizziness doesn’t come from eating meat?
    Perhaps it’s anxiety?

    1. Well, it sure could be anxiety too... in which case, all of us should be dizzy. I know our BP's must be at an overall high these days. Friko, I hope you're staying home and staying safe.

  7. That's too bad about the roast...but, better safe than sorry (you did the right thing by tossing it). Yes, it was an odd holiday for us all. I hope soon it's over.

You MADE that chess set? I am so impressed!!

    Kitty is adorable too.

    1. It was a pretty roast... and smelled good too. But you're right... better safe than sorry. And yes, I made the chess set. It was one of our projects years ago. There were some really interesting ones. If I come across any pictures, I'll post them.
