Nothing important... just 'stuff'

lately

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted (except for the Sept 1 Rabbit Rabbit). Have been having the same symptoms as a month ago - tired, no energy, headachy, and racing heart. My bp isn't high... usually runs relatively low 94/59 or thereabouts. But bloodwork came back fine (except for low D and B-12). Cardiologist did an Echocardiogram and it too was fine. He doesn't think it's a problem with my heart, but wants me to wear a heart monitor (again) to make sure it's not AFib.

My personal belief is it's the D and B-12 deficiency... as 48 hours after the B-12 injection, I feel normal again. Problem is that it doesn't last. I am taking daily D and B-12 supplements now so perhaps that will help. Anyway, that's why I haven't posted in a while... just sleeping the days away pretty much. But definitely better this week.

This is a video of one of our box turtles helping himself to catfood out back. He is one of the larger ones. We also had a tiny one out front the other day.

And the next pic is one of plantings of orchids at the Mall. I love the color! Most of the ones I've seen have been white. This blue is brilliant!

And last is Winston and Abby watching a dog show on TV:

These two dogs love TV... don't you wonder what they're thinking?

And the only other interesting thing I have to say is that I discovered (quite by accident) that Central Market makes the best home-brewed sweet tea (outside of DH's of course). How this discovery happened is that I got an ocular migraine on our way to CM Tuesday morning. These can come on any time of the day or night and affect my vision (and usually accompanied by a nagging headache). So, since I couldn't see straight, DH sat me down in their lounge/cafe/coffee shop and got me a glass of ice tea (made with real sugar - no artificial) while he shopped. It was really good!! I now want some each time we go.

So much for my life since the last post. It's still HOT here. But they are promising some cool weather - possibly this weekend. Can't wait.

It's Friday! Enjoy your weekend... and as always, thanks for letting me share

and

and you are all in my heart!

Hugs (virtual),

Rian

  1. Rian, I sure am sorry you've been dragging lately. I just had my annual check up this morning, blood pressure and blood work are good but I gained 10 lb since last November. My doctor was alarmed, no more pie for me. Anyway, I hope you get some answers and I do love those blue orchids! Love the dogs watching TV too, that is so funny and sweet!

    1. Dug, glad your BP and BW were good in your annual checkup. And as for the 10 lbs, those lunches at the Senior Center must be really good!! But maybe not 'no more pie'... just maybe 'not as often'. I find it hard to give up things I like up completely... but I can just cut back a bit easier.

    1. Thanks, EC. I think it will. To be honest, for 78, I'm doing pretty good.

  3. Your dogs are so cute watching dog TV, I should try that for my pup. I am going to look into Vit D and B12 supplements since I've been very exhausted recently. I hope our pep returns.

    1. From what I've read, apparently lots of older people are low in these two vitamins. I just wasn't aware how bad this deficiency could affect you.

  4. I'm glad all your tests are fine, that has to ease your mind. Gosh, your bp is low, at least from my perspective! I'm on a low dose of bp meds and I'm still usually 125-130 over 80-ish!

BTW, I've taken vitamin D for many years. When I first started seeing the naturopath she took me off all my vitamins/supplements, and I REALLY felt the loss of the vitamin D, mood-wise. I looked for a better brand (Genestra is an excellent brand) and started taking it on my own again over a year ago. I noticed a significant difference once I had been back on it for a short time, so I will stay on it. I did try taking a B-complex supplement, but my goodness, even one pill in the early mornings kept me awake and unable to sleep properly. So after a week I stopped taking it altogether. I've never tried just B-12, though. I hope that both of these make a real difference for you!

Winston and Abby are too adorable for words, thanks for sharing that, and the turtle video, plus the flowers! Lovely!

    1. My bp is naturally low, but I have to keep track of it as I have 'white coat syndrome' (or that's what the doctors call it) and it shoots up to 160/90 when I go in for a visit. So I have to prove that I don't have high bp normallly. I'm taking 25mcg D3 (gel pill) daily as well as 1000 mcg liquid B-12 daily. Hoping these 2 with the B-12 injections once a month will do the trick.

  5. Sorry they haven't got you situated yet. I finally got referred to an ENT specialist, but it is 30 days wait for an appointment. I hope they can get your "get up and go" back in place soon.

  8. I do hope there is some relief for you soon, that the docs figure out what is causing your symptoms. Hopefully the B-12 supplements help.

Winston and Abby are adorable! I've had cats who watch television but only briefly. Those orchids are gorgeous too.

    1. Hi Mae! We had one cat that watched TV. He liked watching tennis... and would jump at the screen.

  9. WOW to those blue orchids! I hope the D and B12 supplements help. I remember that my mom had a B12 shot every time she saw her doctor because HE swore by them.
